Even while he was spearheading the Impeachment of President Clinton in the Monica Lewinsky scandal, he was having an extra-marital affair, all while his then current wife was recovering cancer surgery. Every presidential election, he throws his hat into the ring just to make himself relevant and fleece voters off their money. I dont think this is the sort of guy you'd want to go around thumping your chest about.How is the personal life of Newt Gingrich the concern of Mr Modi ? As a Chief Minister his duty is to attract investment into his state, and for that he will promote his state to anyone who is willing to listen. As an example: George Bush was and is hated by many people in America, but after he completed his term he visited India and was given a red carpet welcome by Manmohan Singh who proclaimed that "Indian people love George Bush". Does this mean that Manmohan Singh endorsed Bush's policies domestic or foreign?

The $16000 amount was the fee that the trip organizers charged people to be on that trip. Let me repeat - people (excluding the Congressmen) paid money to be on that trip

Sure I do not agree with this, or Modi in general, but hey so long as they are not breaking rules and getting things moving for Modi it is all good. Maybe Indian diplomat could learn a thing here too and start spending money on lobbying instead of thinking US will support India because it is the right and often moral thing to do.

One of the members who met Modi is Aaron Schock who is under a House Ethics Committee probe for soliciting for than US$5000 for a PAC [0]. The independent office of congressional ethics approved the probe with a 6-0 vote. The media goes into a tailspin on every development related to Modi because it generates TRP. Did we hear anything about what was spoken at the Wharton summit after they cancelled their invite to Modi? No. Had Modi spoken, the same event would have led to multiple prime time discussions. BTW headline Today which showed Modi's speech at IT Conclave in 2nd week of March, leaped ahead of all other channels in the TRP race. Obviously those who love Modi or hate Modi, both sets follow whatever he says. When Modi did a google hang out, they laughed at him and called it a publicity stunt. Now the same google hang out is being followed by nearly every ministry (of course without any success). And if APCO is managing to generate so much of PR for Modi, they are doing a bloody good job of what is their brief.

It restores the balance and fosters discussion.

It restores the balance and fosters discussion. nobody is saying he is the second coming of christ that will relieve India of all its problems, but out of the current lot of politicians, he is most able to take us forward in a positive direction in the 21st century. He understands the youth and women, two constituencies that have been the backbone of his success in Gujarat. I dont see any other politician in India who has his administrative capability nor his vision to create a better India

This also includes a member who is investigated for congressional ethics. The views of the delegates can not be looked upon as reflecting the US government views just because they carry a US passport. In the past too, several delegates have met people across the globe including Syria and Israel which was against state policies - however, they are free to do so. It is too early to say that the US policy towards Narendra Modi has shifted by this visit.
