We still need to sort out the issue with the fourth overseas player's slot. Nothing against Marsh but he's got just one over to bowl in the last two matches and he had to bat as low down as No. 8. He really can't contribute much to the team (although he has the ability to, but he's not being put in a position where he can contribute much). We should either bring in someone who can contribute more with the bat (Steve Smith, Luke Wright) or with the ball (Ajantha Mendis, Kane Richardson). If Mendis bowls well and Pune's batting fires, then Pune could be a real force to reckon with. Rahul Sharma and Yuvi are bowling well as it is, another regular bowler could put the screws on the opposition. Richardson could be a fantastic death over bowler as well with his perfect yorkers and he would help take the pressure off Bhuvneshwar who's much better bowling in the opening overs than in the death overs.

I like what Ravi Shastri said yesterday, when someone asked whom should Steven Smith Replace. He said, instead Pune should first select Steven Smith and then select the remaining three overseas players. ATM the captain looks like the worse overseas player. Also Bhuv Kumar hasn't done much. Time to give Parvez Rasool or Ishwar Pandey a chance?

a) Ross Taylor is still looking off-colour. He hit one trademark slog sweep yesterday but seemed to struggle otherwise. Very different from the in-form Taylor as we know. If he cannot get back in form in the next two matches, Steven Smith/Luke Wright should be brought in. b) Whatever little Mitchell Marsh has played, he looks in form. He should come in the Top 4 if he plays, otherwise make way for Kane Richardson. c) If Kane Richardson can get going, he and Dinda will make a decent death-ball pair and Bhuvi's quota can be used up entirely when the ball is new. So, we'll have Bhuvi, Dinda and Richardson as our pacers and Yuvi and Rahul as our spinners. Matthews will be the 6th bowler. And maybe Nayar can be given an over or two as well. d) I am not sure what Suman brings to the table. He's been around in the IPL for quite sometime, and has been pretty ordinary. Mithun Manhas can be given a go, or even Pandey can be brought back if required. Improvement was noted last day, but still a long way to go. The MI match is gonna be crucial.

I don't know why Smith and Wright are on the bench. IMO, Pune should play Smith, Wright, Matthews and Finch. They aren't making use of marsh anyways as he is being wasted down the order. That Matthews guy will soon become a liability since he is the captain.

He already is. Was a bad move to make an overseas player as captain. Look at RCB. They've really benefited by removing Vettori as captain. Gives them more flexibility with the 4 overseas players.

They need to their overseas combination right. You cannot use your overseas players just to fill in the numbers. Those 4 are always the key to winning the matches. The likes of Matthews, Marsh simply have a very limited role and either they get a wider role or they need to be replaced. Whereas Ross Taylor is struggling with form, that also needs to be addressed.

Nayer is the another issue. You do not pay over a million dollars for a player to just fill up the numbers. This player needs to win matches and thus needs to be involved more in the game. He can bat higher or can also bowl. Simply case of an expensive player not getting involved at all. That has to be changed
