On the sidelines of the recent executive board meeting of the International Cricket Council in Dubai, PCB chief Zaka Ashraf put forth this proposal before his Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) counterpart N Srinivasan but the idea does not seem to have cut much ice with the Indian authorities. “We’ve had a discussion and suggested to the BCCI that there should be regular cricketing exchange between the countries and the series should be named after the fathers of the two nations -- Mahatma Gandhi and Muhammad Ali Jinnah,” said Ashraf. “We should have the series on the lines of the Ashes. The BCCI has promised to study the proposal and come back to us,” the PCB chief said. There was no immediate reaction from the Indian side but as matter stands, it is unlikely to agree to the proposal. First, it cannot make any commitment without consulting the government. Besides, the idea does not seem to have enthused the Indian side. They seem to wonder if Gandhi can be equated with anyone in the world. It is not for the first time that such an idea has been mooted. Previously, there were suggestions that the India-Pakistan series be called the Kapil-Imran Trophy, named after the great allrounders from either country. Meanwhile, it can be confirmed that there will not be a series between India and Pakistan in August. There has been much talk of the series happening in England but the BCCI is believed to have told the PCB that it is not game for it. The BCCI has apparently told the PCB that the Indian players will have been too overworked by August and need rest during that period. gandhi, jinnah what the hell they have to do with cricket? zaka ashraf is too desperate man. srini mama take a decision before zaka goes for babur vs maharana pratap trophy title.

In fact Maharana Pratap would be more representative of Pakistan than Babur.

In fact Maharana Pratap would be more representative of Pakistan than Babur. dude have u ever looked at all the rulers after whom they name their missiles? they, atleast as far as army is concerned, still believe they are the descendants of muhammad bin qasim, babur, aurangzeb etc. living in a world of denial.
