Irfan Pathan has improved, but not yet to open bowl in 50-50 or play Tests

Bumping the thread...some people seemed to have changed opinions on Irfan Pathan should be opening the bowling in ODIs. I still feel IKP should not open the ODI bowling. What are your thoughts?

Pathan is not good enough to replace either Zaheer, Sreesanth, or RP Singh in tests. Given how toothless our opening bowlers have been in ODIs, there is no harm in giving him the new ball.

Definitely not for Tests. Even ODIs I prefer Pathan to bowl where he is bowling now.

I was really glad to see that he was getting the indippers back and the speed has been as good as it ever was. Now only if he discovers that outswing too. He is a bowler on mend and I'm sure he'll be back to his best very soon. All the best to him and India too who badly need quality bowlers!!

Irfan bowls well to opening orthodox right-handers and front-foot left-handed batsman...so, in either cases he is effective while opening the bowling alongwith Zaheer Khan!
