Mumbai: Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his team are set to receive a hero's welcome in Mumbai on Wednesday. The BCCI has lined up a victory march for the Men in Blue from the very minute they set their foot on home soil. The last cricketers to get a ticker tape welcome were Ajit Wadekar and his boys on their return from the Caribbean after their historic win over the West Indies. That was 1971. Now history will repeat itself, when 26-year-old Mahendra Singh Dhoni will bring home the first ever T20 World Championship. And Mumbai is gearing up to receive them in style with a huge victory parade from the airport to the Wankhede Stadium. The team is scheduled to land in Mumbai at 0815 hrs IST, the cavalcade will leave the airport at 0830 hrs and will move towards Bandra junction, then through Mahim, before heading off towards Haji Ali taking the Peddar road en route to the Wankhede stadium where they are scheduled to reach by 1030hrs. BCCI's Chief Administrative Officer Ratnakar Shetty says, "We have invited everybody, whoever is there in Mumbai to come and join us in the felicitations, and we we hope people turn up for it." Most of the players will then leave for their respective home towns, except those selected for the first three One-Day Internationals against Australia who will join the squad on September 28 in Bangalore.
