Predictions after the first set of matches

Group A Australia - :cantstop:, The defending champs wouldn't even qualify for this tournament if they were put to the test against the likes of Ireland and Bangladesh. They do not have the fire power to compete with any of the other 7 nations. Their chances are miraculously dull. Watson will need to play the best cricket of his lifetime to give his team a shot at advancing England - They have a world class line up through and through. Their problem lies with the new age ODI batting. Although they may have the world class batsmen, their attitude doesn't reflect the fast new age batting. More often than not, they will post a below par score batting first or struggle to chase down above par scores. They will miss Pietersen badly. Their chances are very high and should most certainly make it to the semis. SriLanka - Dark horses of Group A! Despite their horrible show against NewZealand, they have a very low key competition in this group. England should give them tough time but Australia should be a breezy win. With subpar bowling and batting line ups, SL should fancy their chances to advance in this group. NewZealand - Batting is an issue but bowling is at par. Though they have not presented any better team than a subpar affair they always do at ICC events, their competition has stooped to their level. They can fancy their chances against Australia and expect a 2-1 to get to the next round Group B India - of all the teams who have won so far, only India showed any certainty. Their chances of making it to the semi finals are very bright. West Indies - Despite them winning a finger biter, their bowling attack has no depth. Batting has all the match winners a team would want but they are inconsistent. They can either choke their way back to West Indies or smack their way into the next round. Pakistan - Their problems are a little lesser than those of West Indies. Bowling looked world class but then again Ireland smacked them all around the park. Batting remains their numero uno problem despite having some promising players. South Africa - With Amla and ABDV, batting is par as they miss some of their big names. Bowling is a trouble without their top two (possibly world's best pair) in Morne and Dale. Kallis' absence will also hurt their chances. If anything they remain the dark horse for Group B. It will be an uphill task to beat West Indies and Pakistan with the group they have accumulated. My Picks :- Group A England: 3-0 NewZealand: 2-1 (Losing to England) Srilanka - 1-2 (Losing to England) Australia: 0-3 (Losing to SL and NZ) Group B India: 3-0 West Indies: 1-2 (Lose to India and South Africa; Advance with higher NRR) Pakistan: 1-2 (Lose to India) South Africa: 1-2 (Lose to Pakistan)
