Guy was probably a charsi like most other ascetics of the time. Probably got hold of a copy (so to speak) of upanishads and during one of his "trips" mouthed off his own understanding of what he read. That is Buddhism for you.

That is Buddhism for you. :sherlock: That's an interesting take...never thought of it like that....:hmmm: wonder how many similar instances in our past...simple occurrence that mistakenly became a huge movement or event.

Now go back in time 2.5 millenia. Panini is compiling the grammar for Sanskrit. And if you just read the first page or two of Ashtadhyayi, you get the sense of how much importance gurus in those days must have given to language. So much so that they engineered one. India wasn't always ****. It later became **** due to reasons pseudo seculars don't like to discuss on open forums.

I'm just wisecracking. Buddhism has got plenty of things going for it. But we shouldn't credit of all that it entails to Siddhartha. Over the ages, scholars of different schools in Asia have contributed plenty.
