Re: board puts foot firmly into Dravid and Munaf

"During the series Munaf's fitness was being monitored and there was the hope from Gloster that Munaf would recover any day," revealed Shah, who is believed to have been in favour of a move to send Munaf home along with Irfan Pathan. "That prolonged his stay and the board went with it. But after seeing his performance in the third Test the board is worried."
It definitely would not have been in the best interest of Munaf or the team and am sure the team management would have been quite keen to have him back considering they didn't have enough backup bowlers even if Munaf wasn't fit. It is possible the team management would have pushed him to just stay on. I don't think it was a good thing to send players back mid way through the tour and in particular the bowlers. If two bowlers were sent back without replacement then who's going to be bowling in the nets? They will get local net bowlers but it is still required for the specialist bowlers in the team to bowl in the nets as well. Munaf looked very stiff and was hardly running on to the crease. He dropped about 15 K speed in that game. Either he was clearly disinterested (can't think why he would be) or didn't have enough gas. As Lurker pointed out it was a waste of time playing him given he bowled 11% of the total number of overs in the test match. It is unfortunate for Rahul being dragged into this but he is answerable given he was the skipper. The team management picked Chawla in place of VVS against England in India in the 2nd test match but hardly used him. What?s the point in picking a bowler if you are not willing to use him. The team management has made some blunders as for team selection and needs to be told to get their act right though not in public.

Re: board puts foot firmly into Dravid and Munaf I hear what you lot are saying and i agree that it was blunder to pick Munaf over H Singh on that dry pitch . How ever i come from a school of thought which says that you don't question a man's integrity unless you have some solid evidence and in this case there is a fair chance that Munaf went in to the match with intentions to do well for his country and not because of personal reasons...so based on that i feel that Munaf is unfairly treated by the BCCI.
