ganeshran Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 China landed an unmanned spacecraft on the moon on Saturday, state media reported, in the first such "soft-landing" since 1976, joining the United States and the former Soviet Union in managing to accomplish such a feat. The Chang'e 3, a probe named after a lunar goddess in traditional Chinese mythology, is carrying the solar-powered Yutu, or Jade Rabbit buggy, which will dig and conduct geological surveys. China has been increasingly ambitious in developing its space programs, for military, commercial and scientific purposes. It has moved in lock step with its emergence as a major global economic and political power. http://ibnlive.in.com/news/chinese-unmanned-spacecraft-lands-on-moon/439627-2.html

jf1gp_1 Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I have no idea if aussies even have a space program but for strange reason i always felt they will be the next to do some extraordinary in space travel.
hhunaeh Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 us is going nowhere. It's still the top dog when it comes to space travel. They have multiple missions current and future missions on mars. They are building Space Launch System, which will take astronauts to mars and the asteroids. To get some perspective, sls-- Payload to LEO--70,000 to 130,000 kg gslv -Payload to LEO--5000 kg They denied india technology long enough to make sure that its private companies have more tech than most country's national programs.
