ganeshran Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/other-states/after-rajs-order-mns-workers-vandalise-toll-booths/article5622901.ece?homepage=true Just hours after the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray made a statement that one should not pay toll tax even if demanded at any toll booth in Maharashtra, his workers went on a rampage vandalising toll booths across the State. The workers vandalised four toll booths in Nagpur, one in Thane and one in Mumbai on late Sunday night. During the inauguration of the MNS Vashi office, on Sunday, Mr. Thackeray instructed party workers not to pay toll across Maharashtra. Party sources told The Hindu that they will intensify the agitation on Tuesday. Last Thursday, the Thane police had arrested 20 MNS workers for vandalising toll booths in Dombivali. At 10 am on Thursday, around 30 MNS workers vandalised the Katai Toll Naka in Dombivali. The party workers claim that they were protesting against the illegal toll collections and against the poor road conditions for which the toll was being paid by the commuters. The group was led by MLA Ramesh Patil. The arrested workers were booked for damage to public property.
sachin34357 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 This is what you call anarchy! How the **** does a party with just 13 seats out of 289 in Maha assembly and a big fat zero in lok sabha get away with this kind of behaviour regularly.

Holysmoke Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Their methods are wrong, but have u seen the condition of the toll roads? Wtf are we paying toll for?
Desi Cartman Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Their methods are wrong' date=' but have u seen the condition of the toll roads? Wtf are we paying toll for?[/quote'] Are you suggesting that dharna might be a better option :woot:
Holysmoke Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Nobody's gonna do a dharna in Mumbai. You'll never get the masses. People have work to do.

ganeshran Posted January 27, 2014 Author Posted January 27, 2014 These parties (SS, MNS) regularly get away with violence after picking up some issue that has grassroots level support and then using violence to gather publicity. It was the southies, christians, recently northies who were the villains. After running out of people, MNS now has started to target toll booths. Maybe the contractor didn't pay his hafta on time
coffee_rules Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Their methods are wrong' date=' but have u seen the condition of the toll roads? Wtf are we paying toll for?[/quote'] This. The toll road from the airport to the city in Bangalore has been dug out for various reasons - metro/overpass/etc. The traffic is horrible because of these repairs. Still they collect toll , god knows for what. There is no one to question authorities because the toll collection is handed over to a 3rd party contract co.
Holysmoke Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Maybe the contractor didn't pay his hafta on time Of course.

If japan and britain invest in corridors from mumbai to bangalore to chennai, as planned, it will surely involve costly toll roads to pay back some of the investment. It will be the govt's fault if they dig it up for whatever reason, but we still have to pay for it no matter what.

That's the main reason behind this whole jhamela.
ganeshran Posted January 27, 2014 Author Posted January 27, 2014 The reason is that the companies must have paid money to ruling parties to get the contracts in the first place. So they dont feel obliged to cover the agreements of the contract and to recover the initial seed money. Now MNS sitting in the opposition has found a way to exploit this, using the usual tactics of violence and vandalism
Raghav_12 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Now this is Anarchy, not sitting on a dharna. But I am sure there will not be any "Seedhi" bat on this.
ganeshran Posted January 28, 2014 Author Posted January 28, 2014 elections are coming... Elections or not. MNS and SS right wing thugs have regularly gotten away with such kind of intimidation. when was the last time, any court or police actually arrested the leaders of these parties for inciting violence
