Aditi
IIRC there are some ICFers from the San Diego area. Hope you're all safe. Things are pretty terrible here today.

Aditi
You can't prevent dry whipping winds, extremely high temperatures and little rain. We are essentially a desert area, with a Mediterranean type climate. The Santa Ana winds are an annual thing. Same thing happened in Greece not too long ago. Lurker
Why does it happen almost every year ? Isnt there a long term solution to it ? Atleast cant they stop people from residing near fire-prone areas ? It happens because of the topography. The area where it happens is facing a draught for a long time and most vegetation are dead..in other words devoid of humidity in soil and a magnet for fire. This coupled with the sheer stress on land as far as housing in California goes(you really have to see it to beleive it). There are houses any little place they can put their hands on.With the place close to the Pacific Ocean there is also the disadvantage of strong winds. I frankly dont see things changing much unless people start moving out of CA, which wont happen anytime soon. xxx
