Mike Hussey didn't tour India and scored 0 & 58 in his only Pura match. David has 104 & 74 n.o. and 15 & 62 in his 2 Pura matches. Tait didn't tour India and hasn't played a Pura match yet. Bracken was unimpressive in India and did nothing in the recently completed Pura match. However, Noffke has been starring with bat and ball. 7 wickets and an unbeaten century against Tasmania and a 5fa and scores of 50 & 78 against NSW. With the first Test at the Gabba (his home ground), I'd love to see him in instead of Brett Lee. That's about as likely as Bossbhai and me agreeing about umpires.
sm332 Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 yeah ... this should be a cracking series if the Indian bats show up and the Oz bowlers do what they typically do against Indian test teams ... play at a lower level than usual .... very interesting series ... personally this is the best series cricket has to offer on a consistent basis for the last 10-12 years

I'm a NSW fan but dammit, Lee is the last guy I want to see opening the attack. I'd much rather see Reiffel give up umpiring and retire. Tait instead of Bung, Noffke, Hilfenhaus, Bracken - ANYONE else instead of the one-day specialist speedster who makes a career of going at 4 an over and spraying it all over the place in tests. Of course, that's unlikely as you said. PS: Please don't bring up Boss and umpires. It's like one of those Pavlov and dog situations - except that instead of a bell making him salivate, the mere mention of umpiring or the 04 Ind/Aus series will have him immediately going on and on about robbery, Bucknor, etc, etc. Ignore lists are a wonderful thing.

Don't follow Aussie domestic cricket to the extent to comment but in addition to Adelaide which has always been a belter, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth have all eased out considerably.

To sm332 & shwetabh, Bellerive has always been something of a 'road' but the Gabba is quite lively early. Tasmania was bundled out for 158 on the first day against Queensland, two weeks ago and they have strong batting. The WACA wicket in Perth looks to have regained some of its spice with NSW being 7/89 on the first day before recovering to post a reasonable total. They then ripped through WA for 99. Adelaide Oval, long considered a batsman's wicket although the better bowlers still did well, saw the home team (who just scored 482 in Hobart) crash to an outright loss against Victoria - scoring 249 & 77. The MCG just hosted a match where Victoria was soundly beaten by WA - dismissed twice for under 200
