Huge credit to Murray for playing his ass off over the last month or so to get to the WTFs, sounds like the strain of it all got to him a bit vs a Novak. Its good Fed gets a bit of a break before the Finals, plus he is playing Davis cup after that vs France

Also Berdych has qualified for the 5th year running, speaks well about his consistency over the years he always seems to be just not quite good enough to beat the best guys but has been thereabouts for a while. Novak has won 25 straight indoor matches. He is a beast on slow and low bouncy hard courts, retrieves everything.

I think whilst Novak may not dominate on 1 particular surface like Fed did on grass or Nadal on clay, he's probably the most well rounded on all surfaces. When all is said and done, Novak could end up with 10 slams. How good is that stop-slide BH shot of Novak's. I mean the guys on Sky were discussing it now, it's being taught in academies across the world because of just what it brings. Novak has won many point with it and turned defence into offence with it. Trying to figure out, if Novak wins tomorrow, but Fed wins WTF and gets all his DC final points, who takes YE1?

When all is said and done, Novak could end up with 10 slams.[/quote'] Slow hard courts are his most favorite surface. Yes he is good on other courts too, but nothing compared to slow hard courts. Having said that Djokovic has already achieved a lot in a strong era of tennis competing against two ATBs and he would definitely go down as an all time great himself. I think he will win about 11-12 slams. He is in great shape physically and the competition from the young players is not great. If Nadal goes out of the picture he might get a free run like Federer got early in his career. Depends on Novak's performance at WTF. If he wins tomorrow he will be about 1300 points ahead. Federer can win extra 225 points at Davis cup so if he manages to win 1100 points more than Djokovic at WTF he would have a chance. In short Federer needs to win WTF and hope that Djokovic performs poorly.

if Djokovic beats Wawrinka, Berdych and Cilic, he will secure 2014 year-end #1 before semi-finals For #1 to be in Federer's hands, he will need to win all three group matches & hope, Djokovic is #2 in his group & that way, Federer gets the chance to meet Djokovic in the semi-finals...

What are the equations like for no 1 race between Federer and Djoko?

Now Djokovic is heavy favorite to end as #1. He is 1300 points ahead of Federer. Federer needs to win WTF without losing any match, win Davis cup and then hope that Djokovic does not win more than 2 matches at WTF. So unless some crazy things happen Djokovic is certain to retain the crown. However it was very close before Paris. The difference was only about 300 points.

Rafael Nadal had successful surgery to remove his appendix on Monday and will remain in the hospital for up to two days to recover. A statement from Nadal's spokesman said the appendectomy was performed at the TEKNON Medical Center in Barcelona by Dr Segura Movellan and his team. "Everything has gone very well. Thank you for your support," Nadal tweeted in Spanish after the operation.

There have been quite a few once sided matches so far at the WTF. Secondly people who claim how this is such an important tournament and close to the slams should just take a look around. There is not even 10% of the buzz that you see and experience during a slam. This has as much public interest as a masters 1000, may be slightly more but even that is doubtful. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the North American and European clay masters actually get more TV crowd. Slams are in a completely different category. There is clear daylight between the slams and the other events in tennis.
