On one of those breakpoints he had a few FHs on the middle of the court and decided to push every one of them to Federer's BH to extract an error and ended up missing one himself. It was the perfect opportunity to go big to finish the point. That also shows that he's under a lot of pressure because of his losses in slam finals.
