Lurker Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 My first film in any cinema-hall: tezaab.. well it was basically godown in fact it still remains a godown turned hall.......Those musky smells of perspiration emanating from every corner people feverishly using those hand fans and yet glued to the screen watching Madhuri dance...... O maza to PVR mein bhi nahin aaya kabhi :thumbs_up: add to that little butroos carrying crates of Cold drinks, rattling the opener against the bottles during interval. 5 rupiah ka ticket, 2 rupiah ka chat ya chips. 7 rupiah mein poora picture woohoo! Another mast stop for most Biharis would be the railway platform. Newspaper bicha ke sone ka, hose pipe khol ke nahane ka...:mail::mail: BTW I am surprised ke Tezaab was your first movie DR. Uske pahle parents allow nahin karte the ke kuch bujhaiybe nahin karta tha? :D
Guest dada_rocks Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Till fifth standard I was studying in my village school hence had no idea about anything called movie.. sixth onward chachaji ( essentially hitler) took me and other cousins under his tutelage and then I moved to little advanced village bazaar hat whatever u liked to call it.. here in sixth standard for the first time I had glimpse of TV on some uncleji's place while attending some ghar-vaas banquet with hitler chachaji.. I still remember that Chitrahaar scene.. Next year hitler chachaji's son my cousin got married and then came a dahejuaa TV at our place.. First movie I ever watched on DD sunday night special called Ak duje ke liye and the second was brahmchaari.. Whole mohalla assembled in verandah watching movie good times.. Chachaji was so strict that the very first thing he used to ask with his moped still ON bachche aa gaye.. if yes then moped used to get switched off otherwise U turn and straight to our school.. Basically there was no way we cud have sneaked out to watch movie.. In name of entertainment we were allowed following liberty on TV (1) Sunday night movie (2) News bulletin (3) Some serial whihc used to come right after news ( I remmber one of them called Mujarim Haajir used to be our favourtie) We had to sit at the time of study with books wide open whether we actually studied or not was immaterial. Only one day in an year we had freedom from books and that was Sarswati pooja Basant Panchami. Incidentally all the lovey dovey act in olden days used to happen on that day. Kind of indian equivalent to valentine's day. We decided to go to movie that day.. Given it is small place where everyone knows everybody ( falnana babau ke bhatija ko cinema hall mein dekhe hain.. it's big thing.. cinema smoking and darubaazi is frowned upon even today) some idiot saw us and informed chachajee and well we got our share of stick next day.. But it was all worth it Madhuriji ka dance.. That swimming pool scene between madhuri, mandakini must have expedited my adulthood by an year or so. It was a pleasant shock:giggle:
Lurker Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Wah wah kitni sundar sundar baatein kar di DR miyaan. Main to kahta hoon maati mile Modi pe bas issi topic pe lage raho(so long as Fine leg doesnt have any issues hehehe). The earliest movie that I can remember seeing in cinema hall was Suhaag, *ing Amitabh and Shashi Kapur. We saw it in Samastipur, meri Phua ka ghar. Anyway I was too young to remember anything but I do remember Amitabh Bacchan perched atop the Temple asking for chanda! My parents, specially my Mom, was a big time movie lover and I have seen many a movies sitting in my Mom's lap in the ladies section(yep in 80s most cinema houses had seperate section for ladies). Indeed one of the first affect of puberty was to run away from ladies section lest you met any girl from the school there. Pretty much the bumper era of my movie going started in Patna where I went to do Intermediate. About 2-3 miles from my hostel was Gandhi Maidan and around Gandhi maidan were 4 cinema halls. Seen so many movies there, one time 4 consecutive shows one after the other. One highlight was to see "Reshma ki Jawaani", "Salwaar mein talwaar" and myriad of such B grade softcore(mostly Mallu made) at Rupak. Chup chup ke got those tickets and felt a sigh of releif once inside the theatre only! Thats how I got acquianted with Silk Smitha and Nylon Nalini!! And lets not get started on late night adult movies that came on Telly!
Guest dada_rocks Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Abhi bhi hai mere yahan ladies ka separate section.. Usko box bolate hain.... Udhar public mazaaq karti hai is baat ka.. (Mauga baran hinka ke box mein bheja ho:giggle:) Guru 6 mahine main bhi raha hun Khuda Bakhsh librabry ke just opposite jo andar gali jati hai usmein.. Mere sare school friend the muzaffarpur mein mujhe kuchh khas maja nahin aaya patna science college mein phir transfer karwa liya apna muzaffarpur mein.. Sidha ganv se patna I was kind of overwhelmed.. (BN) Bin Nari college mein the ya sceince college mein Reshma Ki jawani kind of movie main Noida mein aake dekha karta tha.. ak sasura barh ka hi tha baadshahpur ganv ka mera classmate aadat lagwa diya .. He used to be fan of those buxom ladies taking bath in white sari:giggle: Ham bhi panch show dekhe hain ak din sirocco, desh-prem, shehnshah, beta, Hum........... Phir ak baar fufaji dekh liye fir dant pari I took another six month break.. then chanced upon poster of heena Zeba Bakhtiyaar in those tribal dress broke my sanyaas once again was back in movie theatre.... Muzaffarpur mein anonymity thi jo marji karo koi chahcha ko batanewala nahin tha.. sala ab wo bhi jata raha.. Tuition se thin leke hi pahunchate the sidhe cinema hall mien wo gate keeper to kabhi kabhi salaah deta tha bauaji kabhi kabhar parhai bhi kar liya karo:giggle:
Lurker Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Khuda Baksh library ke saamne gali mein rehta tha? Yaar hum bhi shuru mein kuch din wahin pe the(Govind Mitra Road) before hostel mein jagah milli. Woh area ekdam mast hai. Ya bolein to वो एरिया एकदम साँय टाइप है! :haha: I was in Science College. Pitaji ki bahut iccha thi ke Science College mein parhe, aakhir historically it is pretty impressive. So hum bhi naam likha liye. Pahle din hostel mein maar ho gaya. Between Neterhaat and non-Neterhaat group. Bas us din ke baad se humko to poora man lag gaya bhai. Parhai nahin kiye, engineering mein bhi nahin kiye, lekin masti bahut. Waise woh poora area is flooded with quality educational instiutions. BN College se lekar Engineering College tak. Beech mein PMCH, Patna College and Science College.
Holysmoke Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 First movie I remember watching in the cinema would be "Saudagar". I remember because I fell asleep in the movie :cantstop:

Akdam se chol type ka jagah tha .. aisa room mil gaya tha jismein 24 hours batti jalani parti thi.. ham thahre khule jagah mein niwas karnewale log raas nahin aai wo jagah...Hostel mein jane nahin diya mausaji ne ( wahin science college mein professor the wo) bole ki goondagardi ka akhada hai hostel.. YE netarhaat walon ko kuchh jyada hi marks milta hai ( i guess reputataion of the insititue plays a role in marking ) CBSE wale to aise hi liberal marking karte hain.. sala rest of BIhar board ki janta ke liye science college mein admisison milana bara kathin ho jata hai, .. BAri jhar pari thi jab chhor ke main aa gaya tha.. Bihar mein pana science college mein sabko parhna rahta tha un dinon.. pata nahin aajkal kya aalam hai.. Don bosco St Michael in sabka bolbala aa gaya hai
Lurker Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I watched that movie sitting in first row.. HOw can u sleep when Rajkumar and Dilip KUmar adorn the screen I watched Kishen-Kanhaiya first say first show at Elphinston, Patna. Cycle stand mein cycle laga ke pahooncha dekhe dost log first row ka seat le liya hai. Whenever Anil Kapur and Shilpa Shirodkhar would come on screen I would have to move my neck from one extreme to another to understand the scene. After a while stopped watching Anil Kapur altogether, Shilpa ko magar chora nahin :D Akdam se chol type ka jagah tha .. aisa room mil gaya tha jismein 24 hours batti jalani parti thi.. ham thahre khule jagah mein niwas karnewale log raas nahin aai wo jagah...Hostel mein jane nahin diya mausaji ne ( wahin science college mein professor the wo) bole ki goondagardi ka akhada hai hostel.. Don bosco St Michael in sabka bolbala aa gaya hai Samjha. Woh area mein har ghar students ko rent pe dete hain, aur ghar kya bed rent pe milta hai, har kamre mein 2-3 bed. Plus chota restaurant every other house, and omlette curry used to be the favorite of those restaurants. My brother's friend's elder brother had a flat at Govind Mitra road so usse bach gaya main, before hostel mein jagah mila. Actually Science College ka hostel sab mast tha, politics nahin tha. Lekin aaju baaju Patna College and BN college etc mein to tha. Plus us samay Mandal Commission was in full force, poora Patna University was split along caste lines. Neterhaat waala log students to theek hota hai but number bahut mil jaata hai. Plus NCC ka extra 18 marks. Top 100 students mein about 80 of them would be from Neterhaat. Kuch to obviously acche students hote hain baaki sab ch***ya. ICSE waalon ko bhi mast number milta hai, Don Bosco se bahut log the. CBSE mein in sabse kam number tha but Bihar board se jyaada. Uppar se reservation. Mere samay mein cut off was about 737 out of 900 but for SC/STs it was about 200 marks less
