CG Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I was looking at Two Positions of strength we squandered at Trentbridge last tour and M.c.g in australia. The contribution of tail -http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/current/match/518950.html http://www.espncricinfo.com/england-v-india-2011/engine/match/474473.html Was Zilch. Comapre to What bhuvi,Shami,Ishant ,Jadeja did now and Contribution Of Rahane .It has been a huge Factor.
suraj Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Great analysis 2nd match is misleading though - when you let the other team score 544 not much tailenders can do in 4th innings
CG Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 Great analysis 2nd match is misleading though - when you let the other team score 544 not much tailenders can do in 4th innings I meant the 1st innings in the 2nd match where we were in lead and could have stretched it to around 150-200,which would have been given us more room to attack.

ThePhenomenal1 Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 i thank bhuvi, has restored and brought confidence in the tail
vvvslaxman Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 This is very very vital. A bit of contribution from in NZ would have been handy. We could have had Bhuvan in place of one of the top order :(
Fontaine Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Uh no, this is completely incorrect. England got a strong lower order contribution as well in their 1st innings. It was what 100 runs for the last four wickets? The difference in the two sides is simply that India were better against the short ball, off stump and England sucked. And when it mattered our batsmen in Rahance/Jadeja counterattacked brilliantly while England's were stuck on the back foot. Then when it came our time to bowl we bowled much better lengths/lines and then made better use of the short ball. Outside of slip catching we completely outplayed England fair and square.
