This is a comment at no sides - English or Indian. Media will just make its stories and analysis to suit what happens. After Lords the English team was spineless and not one journalist or former player was backing Cook and he was supposed to go on a long break. Now all of a sudden Cook is the Man of Steel and leading from front blah blah. Truth is he is still as bad and has got a couple of lucky breaks.

I don't remember media going overboard praising Dhoni for whitewashing Australia last year at home. Instead the excuses were out first - Doctored pitches, inexperience of Aussie batsmen, Australia in transition (the excuse we've been hearing since 2007) , lucky Dhoni. And even then there were barbs that India played 'boring' cricket, whatever heck that means. Fast forward to Ashes, Clarke's men whitewash Eng at home, suddenly Clarke is a god. But aus defeated perhaps the strongest English team which had just won in India & the ashes in England. Then aus went on to win a test series vs SA What was the credentials of the aus team that india beat ? Nothing. What did India do after beating aus at home ? Nothing . You can't possibly deny Clarke is the best captain atm .

English media is a comedy. They have already started talking about a new era and stuff. :haha: Backup pacers are not good. Spinner slot has not been sorted (Moeen Ali is doing well for now). Robson isn't going to make it. Buttler hasn't faced tough conditions as a batsman. Anderson is getting old. Middle order not yet confirmed (with Ali's batting a bit dodgy) But new era indeed. :haha:

Actually, I am really surprised at how restrained our media has been over last couple of years. Media used to tear captains and players apart after even one single loss. However, nowadays cricket is hardly on the front page. There is no discussion in the media about the loses at all. It is almost as if media has lost interest in cricket after the greats retired.

I think one can take the number of hits to cricinfo page (can it be done online?) - and that might explain the dip in users accessing it. People in India are maturing. The youth have plenty of other diversions - they like the IPL because it is fun and FAST.
