Jimmy Maher won the toss and sent Victoria in to bat at the Gabba. Early success as both Ashley Noffke and Andy Bichel took a wicket. All out for 113. Rob Quiney 31. Noffke took 6/33. Queensland all out 341. Noffke 82. Aaron Nye 57. Clinton Perren 49. Al Wise 3/63. Gerard Denton 3/65. With Noffke and Andy Bichel out injured, Nick Jewell (188) and Brad Hodge (286 n.o.) cashed in. It was Hodge's highest first class score and the partnership of 379 broke the record for highest partnership for any wicket at the Gabba. BradH2.jpg The previous best was 369 by Clinton Perren & Stuart Law against Western Australia in the 2003/04 season. The declaration came at 5/581 - a lead of 353. Cam White thumped a 22 ball 40. ---------------------------------------------- At the SCG, NSW won the toss and batted against Tasmania. 6/443. Peter Forrest 177. Brad Haddin 100. Simon Katich 51. Ben Hilfenhaus 2/117.

He'll need a couple more big innings to restore his position of around a year ago. Had a poor English CC season and the disasterous ODI series against India which probably saw Brad Haddin and Dave Hussey pass him in the pecking order - at least for the ODI team. Is probably still only an injury short of the Test team as Adam Voges is also not setting the world on fire. -------------------------------------------------- Queensland all out for 77. Victoria won by 276 runs (Their 3rd biggest Victory by runs against Queensland in First class cricket). More remarkable considering their first innings deficit of 228.

Doug Bollinger absolutely on fire!! He has 3/7 in Tasmania's second innings after claiming 6/68 in the first. Michael Dighton (0) first ball then Michael Di Venuto (0) and Daniel Marsh (0) in successive balls in his second over. Make that 4/7. 10 for the match. The hat trick ball went for 4 byes then he claimed George Bailey (0), next ball. Tas scored 214 (Bracken 2/24) and followed on. 4/13.

Good stuff, nice to see Champagne producing the goods at last. He's been a very promising bowler - the selectors have been high on him for a while, not least given that he's tall, quick, a left armer who can swing it nicely and get bounce - hope he keeps delivering results like this. And yay, another win for the Blues. :D
