G_B_
I do believe that the governor Tripathi would be well within his right constitutionally to dissolve the assembly?
Texan
Constitutional experts believe that the Governor should not be dissolving the assembly because majority of cabinet ministers do not support the move and hence it cannot be considered a cabinet decision. someone
Thinking again, BJP needs to stay away from Manjhi as well. Offer him unofficial support but official should a big NO. He is big liability, has a big mouth and could thus pose a worry for BJP itself if he gets into partyfold.

G_B_
The Manjhi game plan is -- Offer new ministerial berths to Jd(u) members who are not that close to Nitish --- Take BJP support on the outside Reach 117 seats needed in 233 parliament 97 MLAs attended the Nitish meeting out of 115. So about 15-18 MLAs you feel are with the currecnt CM BJP has 87 and enjoys support of 3 MLAs So Manajhi needs about 15 mlas for his plan to work

In that case it will be far better for the BJP if the assembly is dissolved right now and fresh elections called instead of Manjhi/Niths being CM and elections happening in Nov because if RJD-JDU-Cong get time till Nov to sort out their issues and coordinate strategy etc then BJP would be in for a very, very tough battle. IMO it will be far better to have elections as soon as possible - they can come to an arrangement with Manjhi that they wil support him in the floor test if he asks the Governor to dissolve the assembly after winning the floor test. Sachin=GOD
BREAKING | Bihar Speaker recognises Nitish Kumar as leader of JDU legislature party JUST IN: JDU MLAs to meet Governor at 10am tomorrow to stake claim to form government
someone
If the rumours about Manjhi joining BJP is correct, I am really not sure what to make of it. Bihar being caste dominated, so a Mahadalit would be an asset. But Manjhi has become prone to stupid statements and his odd behavior can cause infighting within the party like which is happening currently in JDU. Overall, it makes little sense for BJP to offer support to Manjhi to continue his government as BJP would become part of the power and be judged upon it. Fresh elections should be best as BJP could capture the anti-incumbency votes as well.

Support Manjhi from the outside and his governance (which is terrible) will eat into your developmental plank votes plus allow the Jd(u) and RJD to take their time with seat sharing. But they can claim to care for the SC community. Dont support Manjhi then they did not support a man from the economically weaker section of society. Manjhi is a lose cannon and cannot be trusted. He will say yes to floor test support and then not dissolve the assembly.

bulbul
Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Saturday claimed that he had done better work in the state than his predecessor Nitish Kumar and said he would prove majority in Assembly on February 20 or else step down. Manjhi said that he would continue to serve as Bihar Chief Minister until his party Janata Dal United wants otherwise. "Today I am very much the CM and will go on till JDU decides otherwise. Nitish cannot remain without doing politics, he is trying to become chief minister," he said taking on the man who made him the CM of Bihar. http://ibnlive.in.com/news/bihar-chief-minister-jitan-ram-manjhi-rules-out-his-resignation-says-will-prove-majority-in-assembly/527283-37-64.html Never ending drama :hysterical:
