Team India under Kohli

We need a decent wicket keeper batsman first before even thinking of removing Dhoni from ODI's. You don't get a batsman of Dhoni's caliber daily but even if he is half as good as MSD, then I would not be unhappy with Dhoni retiring. MSD is an absolute beast in ODI cricket. KL Rahul maybe?

everyone's got a honeymoon period. It's stupid to assume that Kohli's captaincy has been overtly spectacula just because of a couple of wins against an inexperienced SL side at home. I want kohli to establish himself firmly as a test batsman before he gets anywhere near captaincy.

Dada laid the foundation...MSD continued and built a solid culture in the team and made them a champion Side and will hand it over to Kohli in the future to carry on and take it to next level ...Its just that they keep getting better..

But who thinks of removing Dhoni from ODIs? He's our best ODI player. The talk is mostly around removing him as captain, not player.

Under him India played 166 matches, out of which they won 93 and lost just 59. Under him we won CB series, 2011 World Cup, Champions trophy etc. All these in the last 7-8 years. Don't fix something that ain't broken. It's in tests that there is a real vacuum as to who will succeed Dhoni. Virat really needs to step up as a player and be a test regular - be India's star batsman before he can be entrusted with captaincy.

Dhoni's record in tests at home is also great..Out of 30 test matches at home, we won 21 and lost just 3...no other team has a better record at home in the last 6-7 years...

World's best captain Clarke has just 6 away wins in the same period (from 21 matches). The results would be even terrible had he played bigger length series in the subcontinent. But hey, Clarke is Australian. So STFU.

No one questioning Dhoni's captaincy skills but question is how long will Dhoni want to play after world cup? He almost achieved everything in cricket and might stick around for 2 more years max. Its good to prepare a new skipper else when he leaves there is no one ready. Thats why I said we somehow need to unearth a good ODI wk keeper batsman first.

My picks: 1. Captain : Clearly Kohli. We have invested in him quite well and he is maturing. More than that he is on way to becoming an ATG in ODI formats. But it's bit of a worry that he hasn't really taken off in tests although I think its just a matter of time before he does. Once he has a couple of very good series under his belt, say over the next two years, it is ripe time for him to step up. 2. Wicketkeeper - Short term : In tests - Saha/Ojha. I really want Saha to be given more chances to show his ability with the bat but unfortunately that is not going to happen in the near future till Dhoni is around. But from a technical pov, I am really impressed with him. Ojha is the flavor of the season and has had an unbelievable year, but he is also past 30 and not sure can be a good long term option. ODIs: Time to breed Sanju Samson. Really it's high time we gave this guy a fair go in ODI cricket. He's brimming with talent, and has been talked of ever since he was a starter in Ranji cricket. Needs to be Dhoni's understudy in the shorter format, and actually relieve Dhoni's workload a bit by being the specialist keeper. Dhoni is good in ODIs on his own as a specialist, although this might mean we need to cut one proper batsman from the side. and if Sanju does well in ODIs, he can be our man for tests as well.
