Crookbond
SC is becoming a joke...are they sleeping till now about examining how CSK allotted to Seeni. What Mudgal committee really did till now :banghead: It is the job of the SC to examine all angles before it delivers a verdict. In an ideal case, the lower courts would have done that and SC would have to just read through it. Unfortunately, the sh!t investigation agencies and a laggard lower judicial system makes it tough for the SC. Link to comment

Note that SC is the apex court and once SC makes a judgment it is never changed even though there are options apart from a Presidential pardon. The job of the Mugdal committee was to investigate the guilt of the spot fixing etc. The job of the Mugdal committee was not to check the BCCI rules. Moreover, the SC also wants a long term solution rather than this short term fixes. BCCI rules will be amended to avoid future such repeats. Link to comment

Precambrian
Supreme Court has no business legislating. It's duty is to interpret validity of bccis operations ubder existing laws. It has no business finding 'solutions' but merely answer questions of law. It has no business safeguarding bcci s future. Clear overreach by SC in this case. It's pitiable seeing it grovel like this and these judges seem to be caught in an ego saving exercise. Sad. Link to comment

Conflict of interest is most obvious case, surprise SC/Mudgal committee doesn't have full details about that by now. End of day it looks like Seeni will escape :(( Link to comment

StriKe
If CSK franchise is terminated..New group of owners can buy the same team right? or they all go into the auction pool? Can the new owners keep the brand name and logo? Link to comment
Crookbond
Did SC say this? Or are you again talking out of the blue? Yes - if I don't agree with you, I am talking out of the blue. You might as well have a swastika as a signature and use Reichmarks instead of ICF$. Link to comment

You seem to have missed the point and are in a haste to crucify Srinivasan. Srini isn't the ONLY one with conflict of interest in the higher up of the BCCI. Just putting down Srinivasan wouldn't work - a catharsis needs to be done. The Mudgal committee should need to look ONLY IF Srinivasan was guilty and that too IFF BCCI doesn't take action. It's a step by step procedure and can't be dealt with emotion. Once again, please note that SC wouldn't have to do all this if our investigation agencies even had a modicum of ethics and could function independently. The SC is doing an extraordinary multiple role job and also ensuring justice. Lets not be critical about someone who's carrying extra burden. Link to comment

It has every business protecting the public good, thats why its called a Public interest litigation. The SC is empowered by the constitution of India to interpret the law in a way which upholds its spirit and is for the public good. BCCI is carrying a public function and hence it cant hide behind the Autonomy and Private body curtain anymore. IS Bindra has challenged the way the BCCI clause was changed allowing Srini to buy CSK.And hence SC will examine that. Link to comment

Only ones they didn't want to retain went into auction pool Link to comment

All other CoI is start only after top guy.I dont think there is any other big CoI in Indian cricket than BCCI office bearer [at that time] owning a IPL franchise. My concern with SC is how they bring points at different times? most of these things can be done parallaly not in series. Link to comment
bulbul
The remarks against Sundar Raman came after his counsel V Giri said that the COO has received information on betting from chief of BCCI's anti-corruption unit YP Singh who had termed those information as in-actionable http://ibnlive.in.com/news/cricketnext/n-srinivasan-is-bindra-in-blame-game-sc-to-examine-bcci-amendment/518288-78.html So IPL commissioner knew about betting before it came out :cantstop: Link to comment
