gator Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Yuvraj Singh and Anil Kumble have been added to the Indian one-day squad for the last two one-day internationals against West Indies at Chennai and Baroda respectively, the Indian selectors announced in Bhubaneshwar today. Irfan Pathan has been also been recalled but will be available for selection only for the last one-dayer at Vadodara as he is playing for Baroda in their ongoing Ranji Trophy clash against Mumbai. The players to miss out are RP Singh, the left-arm fast bowler, and allrounder Joginder Sharma. The selection committee also announced that Gautam Gambhir, Robin Uthappa and Suresh Raina will play the next ODI at Chennai on January 27. Good that the selectors are not worried about the results too much and are testing out everyone prior to the world cup.

But I don't know which batter might be rested - Gangs is just making a comeback, so he will play all matches. Dravid and Tendulkar are is piss-poor form, so they will have to play. Out of KKD, Dhoni and Gambhir, I think Dhoni is the only real choice here to be rested. It'll give India a chance to look at Karthik's keeping skills as well. If India ARE gonna play both Dhoni and Karthik, I'd have thought Karthik would be keeping wickets since he is better at it.

Tendu should be tested well for fast cricket again. Enuff of tucking behind square or glide fine to third man business. Show some power cricket in front of wkt *against* direction of ball. :tired:

Kumbles and Yuvi in... i think, Gambhir should be dropped for Uthappa... we still need to win the 2 games and we have seen what Gambhir has offer now in terms of form and class.... Lets put Uthappa in the same position for 2 games and see.... if he clicks too, great.... Similar, Pathan should be given 2 games and Zak should be rested..... He has been bowling non-stop at high intensity for a while now and he should be rested... Aggy needs to keep playing to maintain his rhythm..... especially, he didnt play the test series.... Rahul should take a break and Yuvi should get in.... THose are the only changes needed for next 2 odis...
