It's even more mind boggling when you consider that Sangakkara has been playing from 2000 and Kohli started playing tests circa 2011. I brought up Sanga because he's lauded as some ATG when he's got 19/37 centuries vs Bangla/Zim/Pak(not some great Pak attacks but totally phattas where YK, Samaraweera and the like have filled their boots not to mention terrible fielding of Pak who invariably drop Sanga). He lucked out in England this year on pancakes otherwise he would have averaged 30 there as well. This guy is the biggest fraud in international cricket and Sanga fans have the gall to compare him to Lara, Tendulkar and Ponting :--D:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

I agree but a bit of FTB and home pitch/weak team bashing will push his average up to what it deserves to be. He's done brilliantly away from home bar one series in England so a little Sanga style home bashing/weak attack bashing is all he needs to pad his stats.

Sanga is a great batsman. Avg 47 outside SC and has another tour of SA, WI to fix stats there. He has played fewer matches outside SC but done well in them. Centuries are not everything otherwise VVS would be terrible player. Jayawardane is not a great but how can u say Sanga isn't? He recently scored heavily on same pitches Kohli struggled to get past 40 in. He too has done well in Aus in 5 or so matches he has played.

Without that it's around 42...which includes the recent pitches on dead pitches (of the kind where Bhuvaneshwar Kumar was hitting twin fifties in a test and nothing like what India got at Lords). Centuries are important because they define a player...the only thing that stopped Laxman from being an ATG was that he didn't fill his boots enough and hit enough tons when the going was easy so that's incorrect. Re. Sanga. He is a very good batsman but vastly overrated. In difficult conditions he is no better than Yousuf, Sehwag, Younis Khan etc who are all labelled FTBs. Sanga's Aus record is basically built on 1 innings and that literally is his only "great" record in difficult conditions and funnily enough he got that ton in a match where Jayawardene also got a ton. Surprise!

Are you sure it does include Zim? if so it is indeed low. Can you find the exact stat? Im just saying what I read and I believe the guy that posted it was talking about WI, SA, ENG, NZ, AUS only...

That included green pitch at Lords where Rahane played really well. Still it wasn't easy first 2 tests. Ball was swinging for Bhuvi until 80th over when he got 6 fer so there was movement. Just ask Kohli, Pujara, Dhawan it wasn't easy in any test :--D If it was like India Kohli, Pujara, Dhawan, Rohit would have cashed in big at some stage regardless of form like they would in India.
