Another topic, but related to Republic Day controversies so posting here: I&B’S SECULAR OMISSION I&B ads on Republic Day carried the Preamble sans the word “secular” and “socialist”.

The I&B ministry wished us a happy Republic Day yesterday. It did so through various half-page advertisements in English and Hindi newspapers that carried a message – every newspaper had a different ad – by the Prime Minister himself. All the ads, though, had a common feature – the background carried a watermark of the Preamble to the Constitution of India. The Preamble that features in the I & B Ministry’s ads, however, reads differently sans the words “secular” and “socialist”. The two words are very curiously (and conspicuously) missing in the I & B ministry’s version of the preamble.

Do you know that these two words were not in the original constitution framed in 1950?These words were added later on by Indira Gandhi during Emergency Era.

Because these words were added openly while this govt is removing them surreptitiously' date= like many other thing.
yeah the emergency was really open...

People were aware of that is being added. But that is moot point. Main point is, does Modi wants India to be known as secular nation or not. If yes, why does he wants those words to be removed. If no, why doesn't he openly says that India should be declared as Hindu nation.

so how is that a controversy?
These words are part of the preamble to the constitution so why exactly have they been omitted from ads given by the Information & Broadcasting Ministry?

Every one knows how 'secular' stuff works in India.

then let him be open about this and declare, instead of doing things like thieves.

Also people aware something added doesn't excuse the fact that it was added during emergency without any consultation or approval, so it doesn't really matter whether people aware or not.

by an absolute dictator who faked an emergency. Knowing counts for little. Maybe Modi does not want India to be known as a secular nation or a hindu nation. Maybe Modi wants india to be known as a prosperous nation.

Because they were added under a fake emergency and carry no democratic weight. The preamble is not an integral part of the Indian constitution and not enforceable by the law. IB can do whatever they want with it. Its within their rights. You want Modi to fake an emergency and play around with the preamble?
