NEW DELHI: Taking the line adopted by the previous Congress-led UPA government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Office has refused to disclose records related to Subhas Chandra Bose's death as it rejected the argument that there was a larger public interest involved in making them public.  http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Modi-govt-takes-UPA-line-wont-disclose-files-about-Netaji-Subhas-Chandra-Bose/articleshow/46147064.cms

A very sad move by NDA govt .Looks they are like UPA 3

What utility is the disclosue of to laymen /
You do know that neither you nor Modi would die if you admit that Modi has gone back on some promises or hasn't delivered on some issues till now, don't you?

Why is it a secret even after 70+ years? The parties (Japanese empire, Bose, Stalin, Soviet Union, INC etc.) that maybe involved are all long dead.

Not just Netaji files, but even the 1962 India - China war files. BJP had requested that these files be made public when they were in the opposition and now they are declining to make them public.

The reason for non disclosure lies in the clauses of transfer of power agreement signed between India and UK.The document was never made public.
And if India reneges on a 70+year old agreement, will UK recolonize India?!? Historical facts of national importance should be declassified after a certain period. Perhaps there is more to it than the eye can see?

What will happen if the very agreement that gave India the power to legislate and then declare itself a republic is considered invalid. We dont even know what are the clauses and its implication. The way the Netaji files and the transfer of power agreement and other such documents signed during that era are being kept secret there may be too many dark claused there.

You know India opened its market for foreign banks in 90s but one bank was allowed to operate in India since long.BP has perpetual exploration rights in Indian Ocean. Why is India part of the commonwealth if it doesnt recognise the Queen as head of state?

You are overestimating the issue. Its a big issue but most certainly not so big as to bring into question India's power to legislate.

Yes, a document that gave India independence cannot be suddenly revoked just because India published what happened to Bose. That does not make any sense. Also, if he was indeed killed by any foreign government at that time, it does not mean that this will endanger relations now. Government must publish those files. It is long overdue that the truth comes out.

Bose was alive after the WW2 and didnot die in any plane crash, that fact has been proven by the mukherjee commision. People need to read this book: http://www.flipkart.com/indias-biggest-cover-up-english/p/itmdazsssrhjzdj8?pid=9789380828695&otracker=from-search&srno=t_1&query=india%27s+biggest+cover+up&ref=4e93e4bd-5245-4533-8314-312743a0bd50 There are other things which i know about why GOI will never reveal what happened to Bose.

S.C. Bose's death documents will compromise India's sovereignty? I've read a lot of bullcrap on ICF in the last 8-9 years, and this is surely in the top 0.1 percentile. It would have been 0.01 if retards who make attacks based on religion and caste were excluded.
