Normally I'd blame the ICC for this, and they certainly arent blameless, but this is entirely the fault of ZC. Loan after loan after loan, combined with 70 million a year for being a test team and its all just vanished in a black hole/administrators pockets. You engage in inept,corrupt and racist administration policies and this will happen. No sympathy for ZC, but I sympathise for the team and fans. Only thing the ICC could have done is the sensible thing of making sure no government interference is allowed in any cricket board, but considering cricket is pretty much a government department in the subcontinent that was never going to happen. ICC offered them yet another loan a few months back but on the condition that an ICC hired accountant would use the funds and look at the finances. They refused, jeez I wonder why?? Not only that but several high ranking ZC officials are board members of Metbank, the same bank who ZC borrow tens of millions off of. So the administrators take the ICC grants from ZC, issue a loan to ZC from Metbank and then take that too with interest. Disgusting With Williams about to follow Taylor out the back door it looks very much like Zimbabwean cricket is about to collapse, because a Zimbabwean team without Taylor and Williams (highly likely to get a county gig), Ervine (only came back for the WC) and Mire (based in Australia) would struggle in the World Cricket League if 'm honest, let alone vs Test teams. I don't blame Taylor. He has a right to secure his financial future, which obviously Zimbabwe isn't providing him. However ICC should do something to stop his qualification for playing for England. That will just be wrong.

There needs to be a situation whereby come rain or shine 6 million USD is pumped into the players directly into their pockets. If Brendon Taylor was paid $100,000 a year there is no way he would have gone to a county. He must be earning about $80,000 at the county not to mention a big% of that will be lost due to the higher cost of living and other taxes etc. You need to have a pay structure whereby top 22 players for a country earn about $100,000 each as a base salary. Thats $2.2 million or how much Yuvi gets in an auction to flop at the IPL. Zimbabwe have bled white players for the English counties for close to 3 decades now. Its come to a point whereby the likes of Gary Ballance made his name with under 19s of Zim and then decided to turn his back on them when he got a contract with Yorkshire.

the least the ICC can do is make things flexible. This kolpak ruling makes 0 sense of banning people for 3 years. Brendon Taylor should be free to represent Zimbabwe outside the county season. I spoke to Sean Ervine once at Hampshire cricket club a while ago, he told me that histocially white players were from rich backgrounds with large farms etc and cricket was just a side thing they indulged in. But the economy under Mugabe tanked and he took all their land. So at the turn of the century they were forced to rely on cricket to make their living. He currently plays as a kolpak and told me he is more than happy to play for Zim outside the county season. Even his county does not mind that as it means he is not rusty. Its only a matter of time Sean Williams follows suit. I blame none of them.

White farmers were driven off their lands only 15 or so years ago with zero compensation. 95 percent unemployment rate, massive hyperinflation (1 Zim dollar = 1 500th of a pound), dictator in charge, corruption everywhere. Why would any sensible cricket player, black or white, from Zimbabwe turn down the chance to live in the UK where your family has access to high class of education and facilities. This isnt like Ireland where cricket is the sole reason for moving, players move for a better life also. I've done a little reading on Zim today and tbh its miles worse than I thought. That country is turning into a basket case tbh, and if I were white I'd get the hell out as fast as I could before things get bloody And your salary suggestion while nice is never going to happen.

Most of the white guys from zim are either in england or in south africa... happened like a decade ago. As i mentioned Sean Ervine would certainly want to play for Zim if he was offered $100k dumping his county club. Nothing stopping them from living in another country and playing for zim.
