Predator, There is no need for you to take pot-shots at one player, just to big-up another one. Is not in good taste. Glorify Yuvraj, but why rubbish Badrinath ?

there are players in the Indian team or for that matter even in our domestic circuit[ they hardly get to face real quality pace bowling] who cant play genuine pace bowling, does that mean they are not being succesfull, or they dont stand a chance. Every one has a limitation, if Gangully can play with his limitations for over a decade and still retain his place, i see no reason why yuvi cant do the same.

Outstanding performance by Yuvraj! What a great batsmen he has shown himself to be in tests, one can only imagine he will get better and better as time goes on. I'm not hear to argue about how many players are equal to another nor who should replace who, but Yuvraj has made a strong statement that commands utmost respect. Great performance from Ganguly as well, this is what we expect from him and he has delivered. In the absence of Sachin and Dhoni, the team is giving it there all, and I have no doubt in my mind that we'll blast Pakistan to bits in this test.

Yes indeed yuvraj is a test player. The 170 was superb. Once dhoni and tendulkar come back i think the team should look like this 1. Wasim Jaffer 2. VVS Laxman 3. Rahul Dravid 4. Sachin Tendulkar 5. Sourav Ganguly 6. Yuvraj Singh 7. MS Dhoni 8. Irfan Pathan 9. Anil Kumble 10. Zaheer Khan 11. RP Singh/Harbhajan Singh Yuvraj has definitelty made his way into the team. but we must not break up indias great middle order. I feel like Laxman would be ideal to open the innings. Since Ganguly is scoring runs and Dravid, Tendulkar are great players the onus will always be on Laxman to perform. I feel like since the next tour is in Australia, Laxman will be ideal to open the innings he plays well against true bouncy pacey tracks in Australia. I feel like hes more than capable to open the innings in Australia.

Anyway I agree with Rohan about the make-up of the top 7, however I wouldnt open with Laxman, because I dont think Laxman ever liked opening and preferred batting at no.3, whereas Dravid didn't mind it as he is invariably doing it most matches anyway. Also, Dravid could help Jaffer mentally through the tough times in Australia (when Australia tie down the scoring). Also Dravid has a textbook defence and is very technically sound. I still stand by my view that Badrinath should have been the next in-line. In hindsight its all well and good to say Yuvraj did well, which he did by the way, very very well ... but in terms of who had worked harder for it and earnt it more, I still say Badrinath. It was ONE very good innings, and for India's sake lets hope Yuvraj can continue to impress otherwise he hasn't yet cemented that Test spot. Let's keep things in perspective here, which is something many Indian fans find difficult to do. Badrinath has scored runs in every form of first-class cricket he has played so far from domestic cricket to India A series (against quite a few international bowlers). Add to that a very capable technique. Yuvraj had done well, and deserves his spot now ... well done to him. I am diminishing Yuvraj's performance today, it was a brilliant innings. But it would be moronic to think that this innings somehow proves that Badrinath doesn't deserve a Test spot soon.

Yea i wish he bats at number 3, but these days he has no real choices. That why i say he opens just to have a secure spot on the team, and hes done really well in Australia and he loves pace and bounce so when he faces Lee, Tait, Mitchell Johnson hell be confident to make big scores like hes done before.

Gambhir averages 86.75 this season. He has a total of two 50s against non minnows in 21 innings. Enough said!

People using Gambhir as an example to discount Badrinath's efforts don't know what they are talking about. There are many domestic stars around the world that have struggled in international cricket, so what therefore we discount all domestic cricketers. It should be a simple system ... a player performs well in domestic cricket, they move up in line for international selection, they get given a few opportunities ... if they fail, they go back to domestic cricket and try to improve, and the next best domestic cricketer is tried. The only reason some people don't like Badrinath is because he is an accumulator and not a basher. This is TEST cricket, strike rates of under 80 are acceptable. Like some people keep using Gambhir as an example to counter my point ... how stupid is that ... if anything Gambhir's case supports my point. He has been given chances since 2004. Badrinath has not been given a chance. I never guaranteed he will be a superstar, it is impossible to guarantee anyone will be a superstar (even Tiwary could fail miserably at international level) ... I am just saying that Badrinath has done everything he possibly could to prove to selectors that he is ready for Test cricket. Now Predator ... I dont know how many times I have said it before ... and it seems it still hasn't gotten through ... I NEVER said he WILL be the next in line, I said he SHOULD be the next in line. So next time you try to make some ridiculous bet that will somehow prove me wrong, look up what "should" means.

I'm sorry, I can't jump on this band-wagon... ...Because, I've been driving it for 7 ****ing years, (though not in a creepy way like that Rohan/VVS dude)... I have to say, Gregg Chappell can be criticised for a fair few things, but the best gift he ever gave to Indian cricket, was dropping an arrogant under-achiever during an ODI series in Sri Lanka in 2005. It was the kick up the arse he needed, he responded immediately with a ton on his recall, and carried on in that vein (in ODIs at least). Hopefully, his long absence from the Test team will fuel him similarly in that format... Just one dampener. Yuvraj has scored 2 Test centuries against this opponent before. Both matches were lost quite emphatically...
