Holysmoke how is the video playback on the iphone? If I upload Quicktime movies of HD dimension then will iphone automatically resize it or do I need to resize it first on the PC?
It is very good. If your HD dimension movie is in the mp4 format, it will play on the iphone. No need to resize. If it is not, you can convert it to mp4, and then transfer it to your phone. Quite simple, really. There are free softwares to do that. I got the divx version of yuvraj's 6 6's, and converted it to mp4, and put it on my phone. The screen quality is really good. You need to see it to believe it.. go to an apple store and check it out...

Question: But can you take a mp3 song (desi song that he downloaded from some desi website), and get it on your iPod...iTunes software said can't do becos registration required or some such weird error (i dunno the details...will try to find out more later and post). Does this ring a bell as a known issue or some simple step(s) missing?
Ofcourse you can. :hysterical: All you need to do is to play the song thru itunes, and it will go automatically onto your ipod. :cantstop: Maybe he hasnt set up his itunes.. finey, your friend is a real noob. :eyedance:

hmm...i think itunes should've been setup becos he was able to get it from cd thru itunes...no? thats different? i am even more newer (forgive my englipisch) to ipod world myself (just in prelim research myself on this - i dont own one). When you say "play the song thru itunes" - what do you mean by that - sorry, can you explain a bit more on this? This is a mp3 song(s) downloaded from some other web site onto his local pc. So, u somehow need to get it from LOCAL PC -->to iTunes --> and then to iPod. Correct?

you need to install itunes on your pc. then when you connect ipod, it shows up as a device in itunes. You can then sync the ipod with your pc and it will transfer the songs from pc to ipod

Ok. Itunes is a media player, like windows media player, or winamp. So, when you play a song on your comp? how do u play? you double click and it opens in windows media player/some other music player right? Now what you need to do, is basically make that default player as itunes. You know what, why dont you download itunes, and use it!. Its a free software, just go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and download itunes. Then double click, and it will install. After that, just play your songs in itunes. It really isnt hard at all. Once you do it, you'll laugh at how easy it is..:two_thumbs_up: So what I have, is itunes is my default player for mp3 files. So whenever I download a file from the internet, I just double click on the file, and it plays from itunes. Once i play it from itunes, it remembers the file location.. so whenever i want to listen to music, I just open up itunes, and see my song list there, and just double click on the song (in itunes) to play it. You will understand better when you download it.. it is pretty intuitive. Now supposing the songs you downloaded are in a folder, and you want to add them all to itunes, just open itunes, click on file at top left corner, and click add folder to library. Select your folder, and then press OK. After that, all your songs will be added to itunes... and then you can just play them by opening itunes. Its really easier done that said. Why dont you download itunes now, to check it out/get a hang of it, before you decide on your player? Here's what my itunes looks like. Thanks holy - this is well written. Yep, I fully understand what you've written...I'm pretty conversant with computer stuff, just haven't used iPod or any other mp3 portable player ever, thats all.

1. ya 2. itunes has a built in mp3 encoder.. itunes can play mp3, aac, etc etc you can convert your wma, etc into mp3..

curious... how do you guys manage with only 8GB for your music?
I just have 2.5 gigs of music. Had 30 at one point of time, deleted all the sh!t that I dont really listen to :finger:
