- The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Tuesday directed that anyone caught burning any kind of waste--dry leaves, plastics, solid waste will be liable to pay Rs 5,000 as fine. - The money generated from the fine will be used for various projects related to restoration of environment. - Any person can complain against waste burning to SHO, corporations, DPCC or any other local authority. - The order was issued during a hearing of an application filed by Vardhaman Kaushik against high pollution levels in the city. - The bench had recently ordered that diesel vehicles that are more than 10 year old be banned in Delhi. There is a stay on that order currently. Agree that air pollution in Delhi is at an all time high but shouldn't dry/wet composts, recycling plants first be brought up? Still doubt this rule will be followed in our country. :giggle:
