f.b.m Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 BCCI revamps Ranji points system In a major change to the Ranji Trophy, the BCCI has decided to do away with points for the first-innings lead to encourage teams to go for outright victories. Other changes suggested by the BCCI's technical committee include a revamp of the Deodahar Trophy, which is the zonal one-day tournament, and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which is the domestic Twenty20 competition for state teams. Link Might sound trivial but I think that this will have quite a large impact for the future of Indian cricket and in the right direction. I'd personally like to see the points awarded to the side that takes more wickets in course of the game. That'll create an incentive to develop strike bowlers who can take wickets on flat tracks.
bulbul Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Good move.. @fbm...giving incentive for taking wickets will lead to dust bowls..
f.b.m Posted May 19, 2015 Author Posted May 19, 2015 Good move.. @fbm...giving incentive for taking wickets will lead to dust bowls.. Not really. I mean in the case of a draw, give points to the side that takes more wickets. The fact that its a draw sort of means that its a flat track. One problem with it is that if there's rain, it might give one side a higher chance of taking wickets but then again its the same for a first inning lead.
Sachin=GOD Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Finally!!! This rule was leading to such boring, and harmful, matches and was reducing the quality as the only objective was to make as many as possible in 1st inning.

tweaker Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Good move by BCCI.It will make our domestic cricket result oriented. It will make the bowlers to toil hard to take more wickets instead of going through routine of bowling at 100 kmph whole day
BeautifulGame Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Good move but unless the 3 day gap is increased I don't see too many result matches anyway .
