I havent really heard/spoken much in gujarati in years now, but I did do higher level gujarati till 12th grade. Here's what I could come up with. Keep in mind, it will probably suck... This is just a gist.. of what i could understand.. Thanks for coming here.. want to thank publisher(?), because they all like to print books, nobody wants to take a risk to print the first book. This is my first book about poetry. The kalakaar friends have brought my poetry to life, i thank them from the inside. Once a poem is brought to life, then the poet is also woken up. which means opportunities for new poems come up automatically. i have a question.. sureshbhai.. mukhyamantri and kavi.. when people realised that i do stuff like this.. everyone asked.. but chief minister, and poet? so at one place i said.. chief minister.. is he furniture?.. he is a man... they then realised.. yea.. it is not furniture.. he is a living and awake man. I remember, when I used to write poetry in the beginning... actually not write.. have rachana about kavita.., I am talking about the time after I had just finished my student life.. he wrote me a poem. He said you have some pain inside you.. some trauma.. and because of that, you have started writing poetry.., that’s what I think. He had written me a letter like that.. I remember that I replied saying that poetry does not only come out of sad experiences.. it also comes out of good … if someone has samvedna, or karuna…then poetry is possible.. Just see the society, understand it.., there is a poem about it.. sagar kedu.. just randomly.. I was in porbandar.. and the fishermen who were in pakistans jail, their family had come to meet… and a long part of their life is in jail.. get released, go back in there.. it was like paining the mind. From there, somewhere on the shore, it was written.. and it came into the book. There was flood in tapi.. it was hard.. I used to see, all night.. travel.. there.. A violent form of a river was present. It was almost punishing the earth.. maybe.. if I was the chief minister there, we would have a big instrument to measure the rise of the water. But I wasn’t, and because of that..I was experiencing the sorrow that was flowing in the flood. Friends, Mumbai is a “sasural” for Gujarati literature.. and you are always pampered there. And on top of that, the first one gets the most. The first one to come always gets pampered the most..mama, mausi, all of them…. So it is a special place for gujarati literature.. A lot of my companions tell me.. sir, why dint u do this programme in Ahmedabad? I told him, bro, this is the first book.. good in sasural.. Somebody says say it again.. Modi says.. if you’re having trouble in such small things, what can I do? And not just that friends, my first book about kavita.. otherwise there are lots of books, of different kinds…Image.. its my third book… But this is my first book about poetry. Friends, I never thought there would be a book about poetry… And I didn’t even know, that what I was writing could be classified as poetry. And because of that.. after you read this book, if you don’t like it, then the first responsibility goes to Surajbhai Dalal. Second mine. Because whatever I talk, he always tells me, just take out some time, all this is there, lets compile it. He ran after me for about one and a half to two years, and from there this book has taken shape. I have written in my intro.. I have never done any poetry.. whenever I go for kavi samelan, lot of people realize that something is wrong with this guy, because I keep shaking my head.. so that’s why he told me, that even you should do poetry.. and I had never done it before… because I was never comfortable. I don’t ever remember any poems.. not even my own.. and so any of my poems, has never reached any kasauti… In the past.. 2 3 poems were printed in Kavitha.. That time I didn’t know sureshbhai.. and he didn’t know me..it was printed because of the poetry in the poetry section. But my kavita has never been roughed in the kasauti of literature. There has never been any option, because it has never come out in the open, and in that meaning, now there are chances of hammers falling on it.. and there should fall, because I feel that the harder the hammer, the better the juice. I have written in one of the poems, that people are scared of rocks, but I make the rocks my steps, and because of that, who’s destiny is walking on stone, even if hell falls on him, he can see positives. Once again, I thank umej prakashan.., I present this book to the feet of literature fond people.. I will take asvad of kalakar friends again at some other time… they were from the heart, not only were they singing, they were in to it.. I will try to make them happy once again. So in sasural, this first companion shall receive a lot of love, and with all surety, jai jai gadvi Gujarat, jai jai gadvi Gujarat.
