If someone hands me an ATG Australian team, then I will win each match even if I have no knowledge of cricket. Would my captaincy record make me a good captain? And India is terrible outside Asia too. What is your point? The only team that does well outside of their continent is South Africa, and that is because they have a great team. Even if de Villiers captains it they will still be better than other teams. NZ is a ATG team?? India is terrible outside asia thats why dhoni gets thrashing here.

If a person has a good captaincy record, it doesn't necessarily mean that he is a good captain (and the converse is also true). There are many other factors such as captaining a good team. Dhoni has been a rather terrible and overly defensive captain overseas. But the bashing he receives is (I hope) not only because of his captaincy record overseas but because of some of blunders that he tends to make in crucial situations.

I am not saying that Baz is a good captain just based on record i am impressed with his aggressive captaincy and for me he is best captain right now.

Agree that it wasn't really in the spirit of the game but that is besides the point. And we are talking about their team (and captaincy) now (or in recent times). Not what happened years back. Right now, Clarke doesn't single-handedly make decisions of which players to select, what their batting positions should be etc. That's obviously my assumption (a very valid one, I think) and I don't see anything wrong with it until a CA official says otherwise. It shows that field placing was clueless They took that from Clarke becoz he was inept . And judge Clarke based on his overall captaincy years not one or 2 series
Scarves Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Can we state how awesome Misbah led his team in that series against Australia and how smart he was because he was. Also their batting fired unlike Australia's. Sometimes you just get out captained and out played. I mean literally Cook out captained McCullum in the 1st test.
IKnowU Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 You are good as your team McCullum now has players like Boult, Williamson, Southee who can deliver on demand. That is their sole reason for their success. Not downplaying Baz as a captain, but end of the day, you need sheer skill to get over the line. Australia could have had a chamcha captaining every game during the 2000's and they still would have won every game.
