At his peak circa. 2010 he averaged in the 40's outside of Asia. Not ATG tier, but definitely very impressive.

Look at the man. In terms of averages he's still 5th best for openers ever - one of the toughest roles in cricket - even despite of his decline. And then you add to the fact he strikes at 80+ Definitely an ATG

He did well in WI, did reasonably well in Aus, but struggled in NZ, SA and Eng. He scored 23 centuries, 13 in India and 10 away. Out of the 10 that he scored away, 5 came in Asia, 1 each in WI, Eng & SA and 2 in Aus. Despite the lows, no one can take away his legacy. He will always enjoy a special place in the hearts of cricket fans.
