Rebb Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 This is the reason I dont go to the MCG anymore :finger:... I have been there for few games and its not pleasent when someone sitting next to u calls Indians "Black bastard" or "coolies" ... Pretty sad .. I think you made some valid points in you other posts but.. You should definitely try to attend one of the games coming up in Feb. I was at the 'G on Boxing Day and on day 4 and what you say is right to some extent. Yes, there were a bunch of idiots who got drunk and started carrying on in Bay 13, but I sat a bay or two over and everyone was a target for some of those guys. They were making crude comments to girls, and messing around with other people in their group and those nearby. I understand that you would be offended by those comments and I would be too but there are other places to sit. I thought I would get yelled at (being an Aussie who was supporting the Indian team) but people were cool with it where I was. There were plenty of Indians mixed in with the Aussies where I was sitting and everybody got along just fine. They just sat down, watched the cricket and supported their respective teams. Anyway, this has been a long post but the point is - don't let a bunch of idiots deter you from going to the 'G. Aussies as a whole are awesome, they just like to indulge in a bit of banter - just visit any AFL match and you'll see what I mean - but sometimes it goes over the top.
maggot_brain Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 what wrong in being a racist ? I do hope you're joking.

Rebb Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 I agree .. I have been to few a AFL games and the atmosphere is amazing .. The sledges the chants everything is great. Do you support any particular AFL team? And yeah you're right - the sledging at an AFL game is fantastic, often hilarious...especially when your team is up. I think the chants are a bit lacklustre though - (Insert team name) clap, clap, clap. Kinda like Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi. Gets a bit old after the second time. For cricket ... yes & I might go and watch an ODI soon .. at the end of the day best thing is to move on and ignore the idiots :D Absolutely. Take away the alcohol and their mates, and those morons would say sweet F.A.
Desi Cartman Posted January 2, 2008 Author Posted January 2, 2008 Yup...the mighty Bombers ... not so mighty off late :giggle: Havent been to many Essendon games though But my friends with whom I go to the Footy go for the tigers or collingwood so I have had many chances of seeing them embarrassed :haha:

You should definitely be embarrassed then. j/k but ew. I am one to talk though - at least those teams (theoretically) generate a good atmosphere. I go for the Saints and our games atmosphere generally consists of a bunch of old women cackling and carrying on whilst knitting scarves for their grandkids. Good times. (Sorry to go OT).
