The Outsider
Lovely numbers up there. Interesting to note, Ponting has about half the runs as Tendulkar playing away from home. His overall record is beefed up by Australia playing many more home tests. Dravid has pretty much been the stand out performer of the current generation batting in alien conditions. Interesting to see Ganguly and Fleming averaging almost as much as Lara in away tests. Link to comment

Dhondy
Figures never fail to tell a story. The West Indians are home loving boys- starting right from Sobers, and including Haynes, Greenidge, Lara, and Chanders. Richards and Lloyd have fairly even splits. Replace the West Indians with the Pakistanis- the exact same pattern. Inzi's frailty on fast tracks is well known, Miandad's home:away ratio is undoubtedly due to the largesse he received from his home umpires. Notice the record of the two Aussie captains- Border and Waugh- their steel reflected in their away: home ratios exceeding unity comfortably. Ponting can score millions of runs, but will never overshadow them. You've left out Matthew Hayden inadvertently, Boss. I suspect his record will be similar to Ponting's with lots of runs scored at home. Finally, the Indians. For a team derided over the years for wilting away from home, those are remarkable figures for Sunny, Sachin, Dravid, and even Ganguly. Suspect Laxman would be very similar. The entire current Indian middle order is more prolific away from home, both in terms of average and tons. Don't think any other international batting side quite matches that record. Link to comment

Dhondy
A special mention for the two nuggety South Africans though- would be very unfair not to. Kallis' away average is remarkable, in fact, everything about him is remarkable, apart from the lack of double tons, while Kirsten is clearly from the same mould. Link to comment
The Outsider
Hayden won't make Bossbhai's cutoff of 3500 away runs, Dhondy.
