Not in fashion anymore, it really picked after 96 WC is it You don't see those flash drives anymore I am not sure if Pathan can be called a Pinch hitter but the best was Mr. Mongia, Srinath. Comical at times but it was fun

Re: Whatever happened to Pinch Hitting In fact Mongia did pretty well in that Desert Strom game. I remember Mongia coming in at no.3 and blasting away (not Dhoni style) for runs @ say about a strike rate of 80. Now with about 20 overs of power play and restricted fielding the pinch hitting has taken a back seat. You don't need to pinch hit to take advantage of field restrictions. Also now the captains may not opt to take the power play after 10 overs and that will pretty much off set the pinch hitting.

Re: Whatever happened to Pinch Hitting The best two pinch-hitters I saw were Mark Boucher and Pat Symcox. They were pinch-hitters in the real sense of the word, they used to have a go at just about everything.
