Tibarn
Brilliant move by the Karnataka Government. Within a few years, private hospitals will be dead if this trash bill isn't removed. This is like a mini RTE for Private Hospitals. Low-lights Govt will appoint a panel of "experts" to fix processes for virtually every service and treatment private hospitals give. Medical establishments are forbidden to charge more than charges fixed by govt for every service the establishment offers. Five years jail and five lakhs fine for doctors / establishment owners who charge more than what the govt has fixed. In addition, not only lakhs of rupees and years in jail. You also lose your registration. Because govt will decide what you are fit to earn and not you. Siddaramaiah 1) He creates a hegemony of existing healthcare providers, effectively squeezing out/pricing out any room for new hospitals or healthcare startups from establishing in Karnataka. 2) He creates jobs for his chelas to arbitrarily decide how doctors and hospitals shall be run. 3) His chelas, with all their wisdom, can destroy already existing hospitals in Karnataka, if the administrators don't toe their political line. 4) This facilitates an exodus of doctors out of Karnataka, as they can be jailed, fined almost 2-3 years salary, and lose their license if they cross one of Siddhu's chelas. 5) Existing hospitals in Karnataka can be priced out arbitrarily during any given election cycle, as INC can now promise to lower hospital costs, regardless of if it is financially viable. 6) To try to fix the coming exodus of doctors from Karnataka, medical seats in the state will need to increase. The problem is, medical colleges tend to be attached to already existing hospitals. 6.1) This means that is an older hospital is priced out by Siddhu's chelas, the medical colleges could either be closed in cost cutting or both the hospital and medical college could be closed in unison. 6.2) Those medical colleges with the proper political patronage will be the only ones that are protected from closing down. 6.3) If the number of medical colleges decreases in Karnataka, then class sizes will increase in medical schools that remain. This could negatively affect quality of education at those colleges. 7) Newly minted medical students will avoid migrating to Karnataka, even if there is a shortage of doctors there, as they can be jailed and lose their license if they give a babu a wrong look. What's worse is the Karnataka IMA is supporting this stupidity and Karnataka doctors are now having to go to court without the IMA's help, to get this garbage halted. Tibarn
Siddaramaiah planning his election strategy well in advance of 2018. 1) Update the Medical Clinical Establishments Act to slowly kill private hospitals in Karnataka. 2) Make trilingual signboards on metro an issue of Hindi imposition, even thought they have Kannada and English on them as well. 3) Last but not least, news from this past Dec and Feb: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/bengaluru/100-reservation-for-Kannadigas-in-Groups-C-D-in-pvt-sector/articleshow/56110393.cms http://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/karnataka-panel-proposes-100-reservation-for-locals-in-it-sector/story-hHPtbaLadauSayMSnynRwK.html Quote The issue of reservation in the private sector has surfaced again in Karnataka, with a panel headed by SG Siddaramaiah, the chairman of the Kannada Development Authority, suggesting 100% reservation for locals. However, unlike an earlier proposal sent by the state labour minister in December, the current proposal also calls for the inclusion of the information technology and bio-technology (IT-BT) sectors under the ambit of reservation. On Wednesday, the five-member expert panel submitted a report that revisited a 30-year-old report on the issue to chief minister Siddaramaiah in which it recommended 100% reservation in blue collar jobs in the private sector for Kannadigas, who were either born in the state or have lived here for 15 years. The report also calls for 80% reservation for locals in clerical jobs, and 65% reservation in high-skilled or category 'A' jobs. The chief minister said on Wednesday that he would bring a legislation based on the recommendations of the panel. SG Siddaramaiah, the chief of the panel, told HT: “The need for the new report arose because 30 years ago, the IT-BT sector did not exist. These companies enjoy utilities provided by the government at subsidised rates and it’s time they gave back to the state that has helped them earn world-wide recognition.” Siddaramaiah said the campuses where these firms have set up were built on agricultural land. “They should have given employment to those who gave up their land, but that never happened,” he said. “They keep threatening us saying they will move away if the government intervenes in their functioning.” Siddaramaiah said the companies should be called on their bluff as they received many facilities here and also enjoyed the pleasant weather in the state. The guy has gone completely mad. Wait for a few months before the assembly elections in 2018 and he will say "Vote for me and I will give you 100% reservations in the private sector."
