Shoaib Malik in line to become captain

Recommended Posts

All-rounder Shoaib Malik will become the next Pakistan captain succeeding Inzamam-ul-Haq, Cricket Board (PCB) sources said on Tuesday. "Malik has been chosen as the next captain after the refusal of Younis Khan to lead the side," a reliable source in the board told Reuters. "You can expect an official announcement on Malik later this week," he said. Malik has been chosen after senior batsman, Younis Khan, who was offered the captaincy by the board chairman last week, turned it down, insisting he was more comfortable playing as a senior player in the side. Pakistan started their search for a new captain after Inzamam stepped down as captain and retired from one-day internationals following the team's poor performance in the World C

Re: Shoaib Malik in line to become captain

allrounders make good captain...Isnt?? They can think from batsman and bowlers perspective...
Not neccessarily. Ian Botham was as crappy a captain as they come. And so was Gary Sobers. Both all-time great all-rounders. The only good all-rounder-captains have been Richie Benaud and Imran Khan. xxx

Kapil Dev...
Yeah Kapil Dev was good. His records would not put him amongst the best though. He led in 34 Tests won 4, lost 7 and rest were draws. Hardly anything to brag about. He was a much better LOI captain where he won 40 and lost 32(out of possible 74). His greatest achievement of course was 1983 WC. For sheer inspiration I would say his captaincy in 1983 WC has to be the best amongst all winning world cup captains. xxxx

so why they are not selecting MOYO-YOYO as a captain? he is not even getting a chance.. is it still a religion issue?
Probably because he is a naturalised muslim :hic:

Yes, PCB doesn't want religious people anymore. They would prefer clean shaven Malik or YK. :hic:
:lmao: :lmao: Yoyo and his religious tactical move back fires. He will probably become clean shaven in due course!

Re: Shoaib Malik in line to become captain

This is a massive risk as i am sure there will be a bit of nagging from the other so called "senior" players but at the end of the day they made the right decision and hopefully Malik will bring PAK cricket back on track.
He was my pick from the beginning. Good player just needs to add little bit of thinking now :wtg:

Re: Shoaib Malik in line to become captain They need to remove the trouble makers MD....send a strong message... If they can do it...and if he can make a few good scores as a captain in the initial games...he will do fine.Or else the vultures will be circling soon.

The problem is that those trouble makers are also your match winners...i reckon this is where the PCB needs to step in and make it clear to ALL players that they either listen to the captain or stay in their living rooms.

Re: Shoaib Malik in line to become captain Razzaq can be dumped... afridi has stopped being a match winner for some time now... akhtar is not coming soon . younis doesn't want the job. MOYO knows he wanted the job ...hence all eyes will be on him... Inzy is not playing ODI ...although it is quite possible he might want to control things by proxy.... any one left... ah!the new wannabe...kaneria...... is he harmful?
