fineleg
By mistake, I first posted this in General Discussion. Re-posting in Cricket board. India chases a decently stiff 275+ target. This is NOT a 340 chase. But our man, the great SRT chokes. Can we select the team after winning the Toss and deciding if we are going to bat or bowl first. If chasing, we can omit SRT :-) out for 8 off 19 Link to comment
veer
are you gonna open another thread for karthik getting out for 0? Link to comment
fineleg
are you gonna open another thread for karthik getting out for 0? Let him fail and choke while chasing decently stiff targets REPEATEDLY and consistently like the great tendulkar. Then I will honor him with a new thread too. Bah! Oh wait, SRT will successfully chase 275+ against Zim and Bangladesh :-) Or we can stick to boasting about WC2003-pak 4 years ago. Link to comment
Cricketics
why the heck one creates a thread on tendulkar, ganguly whenever they score centuries or get out early.. u ppl need to get life.. seriouzly.. if tendulkar scores century, then some sankhi ppl create threadz, if tendulkar failz then some more sankhi ppl create thread.. come on.. i guess we should create a seperate section for sachin discussion then.. damn it.. seriouzly get a life.. fineleg
are you Anu D by the way? No idea who Anu D is. This SRT chokes repeatedly while chasing a good total, and you have to wonder about member IDs. Continue finding 2003 and 2004 examples of consistent performances by SRT while chasing :-) Link to comment
apocalypse
I am unhappy with Tendulkar's performance but seriously we too much rely on him in every match. He is not the only savior of India. It is not about Tendulkar but any other player also. This is not a one man game. So Please relax and enjoy the match Link to comment
fineleg
Apo, When we chase a good stiff target, he just marks himself absent. Link to comment
apocalypse
I know he is not the same performer and match as he was 7-8 years back. Still you enjoy his batting when he bats well. There are odds patches when he fails. Prolly he is not the only one who is responsible for the win Others are shouldering as well. Calm down miss, we will win this match Link to comment
Anakin
Next match, hopefully another gem on Dada, thank god some people never run out of thread subjects Link to comment
fineleg
Apo, If you can - please run a stats check on how SRT has been doing while chasing over the last 2 years. Please check the opposition and target score for 2nd Inn chase. You will see something mediocre. He is very different in setting a score vs chasing (chasing is more "under pressure" situation, and under pressure he can choke brilliantly) Link to comment
apocalypse
I am still affirm on my believe that seniors should go from shorter version of the game. However this cycle of going will take sometime since we have not fully develop our younger brigade yet Probably we will see how much talent youngsters have in 20-20 WC Link to comment
yoda
he seems to be cautious chasing. then again, you need to plan your innings better while chasing. his performance does dip batting second: First 188 13 36 26 *186 7902 45.15 Second 192 24 44 15 143 7265 43.24 Here are ponting's numbers: First 153 6 38 18 164 6532 44.44 Second 119 26 24 5 *124 3863 41.54 Dravid's: First 155 21 48 9 153 6076 45.34 Second 143 19 32 3 *109 4373 35.27 Link to comment

Anakin
there is no point. Youngsters are not getting the chance Not quite true, quite a few youngsters were given chances in the last few years. It's not a good idea to play so many youngsters at the same time. Link to comment
