Test ATG 16 Contest- Team 75-90s vs Team 90-05s vs Team 05-20

• Reason i have kept 16 coz everyone will have a different choice for 2-3 players and teams shud be allowed to make changes acc to condition, pitches , opposition and team combination . 

Idea is to see which set of players have a better chance 

 

Players divides in teams depending in which phase they played more games

 

Min 30 test was the criteria

Selection queries

 

Team -A

• They have to play with few combination like
  making imran bat at 6 and play extra fast bowler
  or making lyod bat at 6 and rely on lyod, border, viv, chappell part time to share work load or play qadir 

 

Team B-

• Opener- Langer, kirsten, anwar had similar avg so i went for dravid who has opened and was to good a player to sit out
• Why akthar well such kind of player shud always be an option

 

Team c-

• Why starc- to clean up tail....biggest advantage with him is he can clean tail easily even the one who can hold the bat which can be a problem for a guy like gilly
• Abdv has kept wkts in 30 test so why not 
• Sanga can keep in subcontinent 
• Shakib n Ashwin are purely condition based picks so they can be bought in XI if there is turn
• Similarly anderson is condition based opener

Team B clearly has a massive advantage in spin over other 2 teams and keeper as well, ABDV batting wud be affected once he becomes a keeper.

All 3 teams are close on paper .... Guys like Donald are missing from Team B. Alan Knott (WK) from team A as well though not sure how many tests he played post ‘75. 
 

If I do a combined 11 for the periods:

 

Gavaskar - team A

Greenidge - team A or Sehwag/ Smith - team C

Viv Richards - team A

Lara - team B

S Smith - team C

Kallis or Waugh - team B

Gilly - team B

Hadlee - team A
Warne - team B

Marshall - team A
Ambrose - team B

All 3 teams have good batting among tail as well 

 

Team A- Imran, marshal, hadlee

Team b - has wasim, warne

Team- C Starc, cummins and even rabadda n steyn can hold the bat
