Before 1994 → Mostly mediocre/minnow-ish After 2008 → Back to mediocre/weak Only 10–12 years of sustained elite performance. That looks less like a decline and more like a freak golden aberration. 1996 WC, Jayasuriya-Aravinda revolution, Murali, Sanga, Mahela, Vaas—an insane cluster of generational talent in one window. So what actually happened in those years? Pure talent coincidence? Better admin/school system then? Murali skewing Test results? Mindset revolution? Hot take: SL didn’t decline. They just reverted to their historical mean. Thoughts?

Everyone knows it’s inevitable that Vaibhav Sooryavamshi will play for India at some point. The only real question is when is the right time to unleash him at the international level? Just look at his bat speed—it’s absolutely insane. The way he transfers weight, the pickup, the swing arc… it reminds me of that rare category of players who are naturally built for modern T20 cricket. You can’t teach that kind of bat speed. It’s instinctive. What makes this even more interesting is that serious cricket people are already talking about him: Jos Buttler (England captain) had some really good things to say about him after the U19 World Cup. When someone like Buttler—who has played with and against the best T20 hitters in the world—takes notice, that’s not random hype. Ian Bishop (West Indies legend and commentator) also spoke highly about his bat speed and talent. If I remember correctly, he even compared his bat speed and potential to a legendary West Indian batter (I can’t recall the exact name, but that’s elite company). So clearly, this is not just Indian fans hyping a youngster—global cricketing voices are noticing something special here. But here’s the dilemma: Is it too early to fast-track him into international T20s? Or is this exactly the kind of talent India should expose early, the way they did with Rohit (in limited overs), Virat, and more recently, Jaiswal and Gill? On one hand, early exposure can accelerate learning, confidence, and adaptation to pressure. On the other hand, premature hype and international pressure can derail even the most gifted talents. Personally, I feel he should dominate domestic T20s and IPL consistently for at least 1–2 seasons before getting a serious look. Let him face quality international bowlers in IPL first, let teams start planning for him, and then see how he adapts. In subcontintet conditions, current pak is better team than curent SL / England / NZ -- I am assuming that all the pak matches will eb played in Pak..if that is so...SL wickets usually favours spinners and in these conditions Pak becomes really potent... esp with 2 mystery spinners

Spinner cannot spin the ball batters technique is little questionable. On the flat tracks , these guys can score 400 or even 450 but little challenging pitches, they are piss poor. Only bright side is pacers look good

I’ve been trying to stop watching cricket for a long time, but my passion for the game was so strong that no matter how much I decided not to watch, I would still end up in front of the TV just minutes before a match began. But thanks to Mr. Gambhir, I’ve finally managed to stop. His selections have been so baffling and disappointing that they’ve actually broken my interest in watching cricket — and now I can use that time for something meaningful. I genuinely don’t understand how Shubman Gill keeps getting selected in T20s while players like Sanju Samson sit out. Because of Gill, both Samson and Rinku Singh lose opportunities. And what exactly is Jitesh Sharma contributing with those wild, uncontrolled swings? Washington Sundar batting at No. 4 in ODIs and Tests is even more shocking. At best, he is a part-time all-rounder, and his Ranji statistics clearly reflect that. When was the last time India lost all five Test matches at home? This phase is unbelievable. Gambhir will surely be remembered in Indian cricket history — but not for the right reasons. I always admired him as a player, especially his innings in the 2011 World Cup final, but it’s becoming clear that he is not cut out for coaching.

Not that he scored 50+ runs but how he got the runs and in the big game.. Played sensibility when wickets were falling and carefully selecing the bowlers to hit and choosing the right balls. Also..he seems to be the big match player .. very hard to get these kind of guyz ...earlier we had yuvi and then gauti and then shikar and now..we can pullt his guy in Not like Gill who pee the pants on big occassions
