No way would they want to be ruled by a Hindu when they are the majority. Nope, nope nope. The whole point was for British Raj's territory going to be part of India/Pakistan and independent rulers doing whatever they wished. Whether Kashmiri muslims would've gone for self determination against an autocrat or not, is irrelevant, since Kashmir became part of India due to illegal invasion from Pakistan.
