observer1
i am pretty sure BB that most countries will have at least a 90% record of wins if they get a lead of more than 100. Except perhaps England Link to comment

observer1
Agreed . but we have a 100% record. :D that is bcos of a type 1 error. we simply dont take a first innings lead of 100 often enough! you have to look at number of tests/ number of times team gets lead of 100 or more to substantiate that Link to comment
The Outsider
Not quite so straightforward, observer. I bet all teams who have had good spinners will have better records of not losing after taking a 100+ run first innings lead. Challenge for teams with a spin heavy attack is to get that lead. Once they have it spinners can get going in the second innings. I don't think it's just numbers, behind numbers there is also cricketing logic. Link to comment

Yes, chances of pulling it off once you have established a big first innings lead increase if you have quality spinners because 4th and 5th day are wonderful times for them to be bowling in general, more so with the cushion of a big lead. observer1
big, and not 100. you can be interpreted as stating that spinner-heavy team NEED a big lead to succeed... anyway there is a bit too much of a good chateau lamanieu in front of me and ponting has just got out on sky and i shall resume 2morro Link to comment
