head coach
And what is that graph about? Tell me what does poster boy average outside the subcontinent after playing 7 years of international cricket. Shwetabh, I dont believe he is a superstar but he is a player who is going to be the pillar of Indian batting in Tests. Coming back to your point: In this 7 years he has only played 14 tests outside India. His graph is going up after each season. He played these 14 tests under 3 different captains: *R Dravid 2004-2006 9 458 122 38.16 2 1 1/25 79.00 0 13 0 *SC Ganguly 2004-2005 3 84 47 28.00 0 - - - - 1 0 *A Kumble 2007-2008 2 17 12 4.25 0 0 - - 0 2 0 In 04-05 he averaged 28, in 05-06 38 and current is much lower because of failure in last two tests. Not much to harp about but you have to remember that he never had a consistent place in the Test team and was always playing under the Gun. He is a candidate who'll replace Dravid/Gangully in Tests. The guy will never average much over 40 in tests and well below it outside the subcontinent against decent attacks. Link to comment

You see Ganguly played 2 back to back centuries at England and then was a failure in the next 7 overseas tests averaging only 28 but then came back strongly into Test team. I think Yuvraj also would come back strongly. You just have to give him his space. Link to comment

Was Tendulkar sure of his spot when he went to Pakistan? Were Dravid and Ganguly sure of their spots when they went to England? Was Sehwag sure of his spot when he went o South Africa. Was Laxman sure of his spot when he made the 281? It is in these circumstances champions are made not by whining about deserving a spot and then not being able to put bat to ball. Yuvraj absolutely must be dropped after this tour for Badrinath as the reserve middle order batsman. No more pu$$y footing by selectors on the basis of some 6 sixes in a T20. Link to comment

prince40
These are the 6 players who could be singled out from the current team. Going forward the team should revolve around these individuals. They are going to determine how many matches India win: M S Dhoni Yuvraj Singh Suresh Raina R P Singh Sreesanth Irfan PathanThe reason these stand out is because they make a change in the mindset of playing eleven. Rest of the spots are up for grabs. raina:giggle: Link to comment

Yuvraj will perform what he is expected of doing when he finds that there is no big name attached to the result. Yes he will have to wait as a reserve until these big men leave the scene. I'm all for getting Badrinath in for Dravid and yuvraj for Ganguly :two_thumbs_up: Link to comment
