Chandan
It is yet to be seen what happens when the appeal takes place after the test series. Will India take up the matter as seriously? Will BCCI hire an able lawyer to present Bhajji's case? Will things be systematic and sensible after the appeal? Link to comment

DesiChap
ICC set to take action against Gavaskar: Reports ICC set to take action against Gavaskar: Reports PTI MELBOURNE, January 25: The International Cricket Council (ICC) is all set to take action against it's Cricket Committee chairman Sunil Gavaskar for his outburst against match referee Mike Procter, who had slapped a three-Test ban on Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh for racist abuse. According to a report in The Australian , Gavaskar's criticism has been reported to ICC's executive board, which will meet in March. In a newspaper column, Gavaskar had said that Procter went by the word of a "white man" instead of a "brown man" while declaring Harbhajan guilty of racially abusing Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds in the ill-tempered Sydney Test. The daily reported that ICC chief executive Malcolm Speed and cricket manager Dave Richardson have already discussed the matter with Gavaskar. "It will be another big test for the ICC executive board, made up of the presidents or chairmen of the 10 Test-playing nations, which has been accused of bowing to the India and the Afro-Asia bloc," it said. Earlier, ICC president-elect David Morgan had also expressed concerns at Gavaskar's criticism of Procter. "Conflicts of interest pervade our sport. In terms of Gavaskar, within the ICC, there is a concern now that he's chairman of the cricket committee and a journalist who has expressed some fairly outspoken comments," he had said. Harbhajan's appeal against the ban comes up for hearing after the ongoing fourth and final Test against Australia in Adelaide. http://cricket.indiatimes.com/ICC_set_to_take_action_against_Gavaskar_Reports/articleshow/2729176.cms Link to comment

ICC has no gag orders as such. And of course, Procter did take the Aussie [white man's] word over the Indians. Any constraints on the freedom of speech will be only detrimental to the game. Why should ICC fear criticism? Just because Gavaskar is a part of ICC he should shut his mouth & abstain from pointing out its flaws? Link to comment

IndianRenegade
Gavaskar should sue ICC if it does anything of that sort. We all know what happened when Hair sued ICC! Link to comment

head coach
Why Gavaskar didn't resign from his ICC position as a protest? He makes these comments receiving thousands of dollars from media outlets and sits on the official chair accusing ICC umpires. The guy has lost his credibility! Link to comment
King
Gavaskar is better off not working for the clowns. It sure is a conflict of interest although what he has stated is true. Link to comment

It might be truth. But you cannot have it both ways. Either he has to step down from the corrupt organization and write the truth or he should shut up and go with the flow. Link to comment

head coach
why? ever heard of the term whistle blower? Well if he is one then he is doing it for pursuing personal glory and fame. Gavaskar has a record of animosity and one-upmanship when it comes to making comments. He previously said one about an Aussie player who died. The guy is full of ego. Link to comment
sreej
Gavaskar should be thrown off the ICC committee and he should retire from the commentary box. He is an extremely biased and irritating commentator. Link to comment

Just because he made one stupid comment against a dead guy, you are going to question his intentions here? I just see a frustrated Indian who is mighty pissed at a ICC match referee who has a history of biased decisions against South Asian teams. Link to comment
Sachinism
You are real lucky still to be here :cantstop: ban his dumb ass well done Sunny, dont take no sh!t from them what Sunny said is what all of India is saying #perfectly legitimate questions ICC is becoming a joke, BCCI should break away and start a new cricket board to control world cricket Link to comment
Guest HariSampath
gavaskar should be sacked.....he was a disgrace as a cricketer and is the same as an administrator..... stfu aussiefan, Sunny Gavaskar iks unquestionably one of the legends of the game, and a very straight talking administrator and commentator. If anyone needs to be sacked it is the entire aussie team for cheating, and aussies like you are just mad that your team and players are shown up for what they are. Good show sunny !!!! IndianRenegade
Cricket Australia snubs Sunny Gavaskar? Cricket Australia snubs Sunny Gavaskar? The Indian batting legend, Sunil Gavaskar, who has been pretty vocal in his support for Harbhajan Singh in the 'Monkey' controversy, going so far as to say that match referee Mike Procter took the word of an Aussie over Indian, insinuating that there was white versus colour bias in the judgement, was kept out of the presentation party at the end of the game at Adelaide Oval. The Test trophy between the two teams is called the 'Border- Gavaskar Trophy'. Gavaskar, who was present at Adelaide Oval and all through the series as a commentator for ESPN-Star, looked distinctly uncomfortable when someone referred to his being there and still not invited to be on the dais to give away the trophy. IndianRenegade
Calling Procter a racist was a bit OTT. Where did he call procter a racist? Are u referring to the statement that he took the white mans word over a brown man? Either way, why is CA worried about his views of procter? Link to comment
Chandan
Calling Procter a racist was a bit OTT. Faisal, I think you're misinterpreting Gavaskar's column the same way Richards or others did. Their misinterpretation can be sort of understood as they have guilt in their mind. But how come you fell for it? Have you read that original column? Link to comment
