Who should be brought in as replacement if RPS cannot make ODI series (injury)?

Pls. dont say Munaf Patel? Didnt they drop SG + RD for "fielding"? Is Agarkar (sigh, Salil) about to make a comeback if RPS cannot make it? I think AA in Aus maybe better than VRV Singh?
If they dropped SG+RD for fielding then even Ishant has no right to be selected. I think this selection is more with an eye on future and captain's demands rather than SG+RD's or anyone else's capabilities. I hope they preserve Munaf for test instead.

Grandpa Patel will most probably come, given that he is on standby. I'd personally like to see Abhishek Nayar come in - not a like for like, but he's a solid change bowler and a fine middle order bat.
He's gotta be a solid change bowler. Salil, Is he better than JP Yadav and Reetinder Sodhi types? Then it is worth considering.

here's the thing, fineleg. In bowling terms, he's a little better than them. In batting terms, he tilts the scale a huge deal. This is a bloke who's capable of coming in and storming to a blitzkrieg 100 off 90 balls or a 35 ball fifty if he feels like. Slot him in at number six, and you have a tremendous hitter, a batsman in the Klusener mould (not my words - Kumble said so :D) who can add in ten very decent overs with the ball.

^ then he is a trundler who *can* throw his bat about....so forget about him...go with a quick Pankaj Singh who has already been in Aus for this tour

There's a difference between throwing your bat around and being good enough to be a specialist bat. He's in the latter category. Makes lots of runs and makes them with consistency and under pressure, but does it at a very good strike rate. Think Jacob Oram with less height and less of a golf-swing stance.

Whoever comes in won't get a game anyway' date=' so bleh who carez :P[/quote'] They'll get a game. There is every likelihood after 3 or 4 matches, someone (bowler) has a niggle, did not bowl as well as expected/failed, and we will want to try the remaining guys in the squad.

it would hv been good 2 hv ajit agarkar but, it seems he has joined icl these pankaj singhs, vrv singhs n others don't hv enough 2 bowl here down under perhaps, munaf is the only option, he has xperience n can be lethal at times just, these times need 2 b more frequent but no need 2 worry, pravin kumar is there in the squad, if not munaf, he'll get a knod 4 the playing 11

Hamstring injury forces RP Singh out for two weeks ADELAIDE, January 25: India were dealt a big blow on Friday with pace spearhead RP Singh suffering a hamstring injury during the second day's play of the fourth and final Test against Australia. The paceman had bowled four overs during the Australian first innings when he suffered the injury. RP was treated for the hamstring injury after the day's play and the team management will again assess his condition on Saturday. The Indians have opted to go into the crucial Test with a five-pronged bowling attack but their move could lose much of its sting if the paceman is not fit enough to bowl on the third day. Replying to India's mammoth first innings total of 526, Australia were 62 for no loss at close of play on the second day.
