head coach
Every single time it's the same argument - give him more time. Just to make Yuseless into a test match player the Indian team has suffered on many occasions. What wrong have Badrinath and Kaif done by scoring in domestics while poster boy plays tests because he needs "some time". Newsflash - Its been 4 years and he still can't buy a run against decent attacks in tests. Well every one goes through bad patches in terms of Form. Where were you when Ganguly was persisted after repeated failure in 7 tests after debuting with two centuries. He turned out to be a fine Test player... Link to comment

Ganguly scored more runs in his first test than Yuvraj has scored outside the subcontinent in his entire career. Link to comment
King Tendulkar
Has Kaif learnt how to hold a bat properly yet. Any inside info guys? Link to comment
The Outsider
Instead of using no. of years- no. of matches on a continous run should be used as a measure He was given a continuous run of 11 tests last year. Isn't that enough? Which other batsman has been given a 11 test run? Champions are made of the stuff Sehwag showed in the third test. Given a chance, he pounced on it, not losers like Yuseless who score more in bedrooms than on the cricket field and then whine to the media about how they should be playing tests. Link to comment

The Outsider
Did he fail in all those tests?? Who scored 169 in that run?? No, but was a failure overall averaging 30 and not being able to put bat to ball unless served up with crap like Sami and Arafat. Link to comment

While we are all singing his praises now- there was no logic except blind faith in giving him the spot this year. Yuvi will also repay and for a longer time if given the support Link to comment

While we are all singing his praises now- there was no logic except blind faith in giving him the spot this year. Yuvi will also repay and for a longer time if given the support Sehwag is a proven international performer with a 50+ average and huge hundreds against the best of attacks in foreign conditions. Comparing his case with a failure like Yuvraj is a red herring at best and heretical at worst. Link to comment

msb1991
Mohammad Kaif should not be recalled instantly to the Test team. His style of relatively moderate agression in ODIs means that his progress in international cricket can be adjudged by a run in the ODI team, where there are vacancies for good fielders and middle order batsmen. King Tendulkar
Kaif should only be recalled if he has started doing the following. 1. Gripping a cricket bat like a batsman 2. Has a stance like a batsman 3. Has threaded his eyebrows Link to comment

Kartikey
Yes, Kaify needs to be in the team. Not in the Test team though, although definitely in the ODI's. He performed better than over-rated Raina in the Ranji Trophy who's on the plane to OZ. stupid selectors. He can be a future No.3, he can take over from RD. But, Sehwag has to be the captain after Jumbo, we need someone with a sharp mind. Remember it was him to told Jumbo to continue with Ishant in Perth and then Ishant got punter next ball. But Kaify can be vice captain. And yuvraj, yeah he's performed great in the ODI's and T20's. but does that mean he should play in tests. his 169 didnt mean anything against perhaps the worst Pakistani attack in like 20 years. Look waht happened in the important, the real Test Series against Aus. yuvraj couldnt even score against the invitational team.:haha: Link to comment
Don
Mohammed Kaif ready for a comeback With the 160 he scored against a decent Westzone attack Kaif reached the third century this season. With 700+ runs behind him, It is fair to say that hes now in decent form. I think hes a must guy for tests after the galacticos retire. Solid defensive technique, hunger to score runs, genuinely world class ground fielder and shows the sort of grit only seen in Kumble and Dravid. Some of his best knocks have come under pressure. Couple of 50's at the Nagpur MCG comes to mind as well as the 25 he scored on the mumbai turner agaisnt rampaging aussies. Not to mention his matchsaving 93 agaisnt England at Kanpur. His first century also came in adverse conditions in West Indies agaisnt West Indies where he comfortably outscored Yuvraj in the series. On the downside hes not the most aesthetically pleasing batsman but he still is one helluva fielder and genuine leader of men. (UP have reached ranji Trohpy final twice under him). I think instead of investing in technique less stroke makers like Uthappa there should be place for gritty solid bastman as well in the future indian ODI and test sides. Link to comment

jacky007
whom will u drop to fit in kaif?? drop tendulkar? drop laxman?? drop sehwag??? drop dravid??? first he should be placed in odi squad, rather then bringing him in test side. and btw, Sehwag can and should be given Captaincy way way way before kaif should be given.. exactly ... call him and put him where? drop who? if u want him to open why not calling gambhir or akash.... and then go for parthiv patel and then kaif ... and our middle order is already strong so no need for kaif as of now Link to comment
talksport
Kaif could easily be Indias Collingwood... There are too many comparisons...Excellent fielders, Limited abilities, Very Gritty Players, Leadership qualities... Link to comment
Toony™®
I remember in the Pak-Ind odi series in 2006 -india's fielding unit was awesome with him in it... but since he was dropped..fielding standards has dropped. Link to comment
