16 str8 Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Denial of truth is a very idiotic thing. You surely do feel like crap' date=' of course it's just a game, but with the amount of retarded comments you throw out,[b'] when something doesn't go your way after all that talk, you may not "feel" like sh!t despite you truly being sh!t anyway. Ponting will not overtake Sachin and no matter how much you cry and scream here and in private despite not "feeling" like sh!t, yet truly being it, your wish will not come true. English please...... Anyway, (from what I understood!?!) you had nothing intelligent to respond with, so you resorted to calling me sh1t. You fail. In regards to Ponting vs Sachin we can only watch and wait. Although I must say, I'm feeling mighty confident. :two_thumbs_up:

Or perhaps you're just acting even more stupid than you have been? You talk about intelligent responses, yet nothing you've said so far has been anything near what would be considered "intelligent." And I don't see what's wrong with calling you "sh!t", why do I "fail" for calling you what you are. The truth hurts but you have to accept it, no amount of denial will change anything. I don't feel confident, in fact I am certain that Ponting will not overtake Sachin.

Mr. Wicket Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Alright, enough of the catfighting, both of you. Take it to emails or such, and get back to the topic.

16 str8 Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Hey Salil I tried to send you a pm, not sure if you got it or not (don't have enough posts or something) but thanks for the welcome.
rkt.india Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 I agree. He can be weak against spin bowling, but he is much better against fast bowling compare to Lara and master blaster right now. I have not seen him troubled much against fast bowler in his career until at WACA against Ishant Sharma. But i am sure he will do better in India this time around.
rkt.india Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 flintoff also troubled him in an over in 2005.but nothing else.
rkt.india Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 He is an idol for modern batsman because of his dominance against fast bowlers.
mhr123 Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Averages only 42 in england and 12 in India. So does not like seaming/swinging tracks or turning tracks. Thats it I am convinced now. PONTING IS A FTB!!! I loved it when Harsha said on Air " Aussi captain is averaging less than Bhajji in this series" :haha::haha:
King Tendulkar Posted February 9, 2008 Author Posted February 9, 2008 Ponting has played one, yes ONE test match in India since 2001. His career record from 1995 to 2001, 1995-2001 52 83 11 3182 197 44.19 His record from 2002 to 2008, 2002-2008 64 110 15 6594 257 69.41 If you still dont get it, in the time when he has been his MOST prolific, Ponting has played just one test match in India. You conveniently forget that and label him "mediocre" based on stats from a time when he was just a good batsman. This reveals a lot. As it is quite clear that his average was mediocre when batting was at its most difficult. He averages only 44 up to 2001. These are the widely regarded reasons for batting being more difficult pre 2001 and how ponting struggled then and did better once things only become easier post 2001. 1. The bowlers were far superior pre 2001 2. The pitches were much more tricky as due to better trainig for groundsman and scientific research, pitches are much more batter friendly and quite franky flat pancakes. 3. Outfields also due to the above being rocket fast due to far superior preparation and superior drainage. Thus shots pre 2001 that would have gone for 2 now race for 4. 4. Bats are much superior. Thus again 2s become 4 and 4s become 6. It should also noted that for a large period post 2001 Ponting used a metal bat. 5. Cheating umpires post 2001 helped him even more, especially when he became captain and they did not want to give oz captain out. Thus pre 2001 when things were a lot more diffciult and the technique of batters were tested more. He struggled and only averaged 44. Even now the 2 most tricky places for a batters technique are england and india. He has poor averages there. He also never had to face the ultimate test which is face the aussies, were I am sure Mcwarne would have frankly raped him ala bhaji. Thus it is clear ponting is a good batsman but has serious flaws which means he is not a great and could by some be regarded as a FTB.

From the sound of that it would appear that all a batsmen has had to do post 2001 is turn up and the runs will flow. Why haven't previous test cricket records been smashed in this time then? Although i'm sure you will have no difficulty supplying a link to verify these claims. After all, according to you they are "widely regarded." Until then, Punter is the dominant batsmen of his generation.
