Dhawan should do better in England than in SA, along with NZ two places I think his technique should be adequate. Not expecting big hundreds, but a quick 50 to give us some momentum if scoring gets tough. I would play KL at 3 here ahead of Pujara.

He flopped last time in England

Batting is the biggest concern. In SA our batsmen none apart from Virat scored runs at good average (48) . Everyone but Virat flopped and were pathetic batting performance wise averaging less than 20. Details are as follows:

Top Order

Player / Innings / Runs / Average

Vijay / 6 / 102 / 17

Shikhar / 2 / 32 / 16

Chet / 6 / 100 / 17

Rahul / 4 / 30 / 7.50

Middle order

Player / Innings / Runs / Average

Virat / 6 / 286 / 48

Rohit / 4/ 78 / 20

Hardik 6 / 119 / 20

Wicket - keepers

Player / Innings / Runs / Average

Parthiv 4 / 46 / 14

Saha /  2 / 8/ 4

Bhuvi (101) and Ashwin (90) contributed 191 runs, which were 5 runs more than total tally of runs scored by 3 openers and 2 wicket-keepers (Vijay, Shikhar, Rahul, Parthiv and Saha) who scored 186.

50 run partnership right up in first innings of first test. Didn't expect even this, but it's a welcome change.

Think the batting averages of our batters are going to be above 20 each this series.
