beetle
Seriously? With so many issues and cases pending...why the hell is the centre fighting to save this stupid redundant law? Who are they trying to fool? Who are they trying to help? What are they saving ? https://m.timesofindia.com/india/sc-punishing-only-men-for-adultery-hits-right-to-equality/articleshow/65236049.cms Apparently...striking down this stupid law will erode the sanctity of marriage.... What marriage? Cheating already destroyed it. What are they trying to save? If they think they are protecting the woman....then how ? Women are reduced to being the property of the husband like cattle. How is it helping her? A married man can have sex with un married women and it is not punishable...neither for him nor his partner. The sanctity of the wife's marriage is not important? A woman does the same and the lover goes to jail. A married woman can have sex with another person with the consent of her husband....that is also fine. Only if it happens without consent , it is punishable for the person the husband is not even married to. So the third person who took no vows in the marriage gets punished . It is a law to ego massage only one party...the cheated husband....after his marriage is any way dead. It is a cheated husband vs cheater lover. The law is so unfair to most people . The SC is rightfully trying to scrap the stupid law and the centre is fighting it in the name of protecting the sanctity of marriage. Do we not have better causes and cases ? Why waste tax payer's money? Do we not have too many cases pending in the courts already? Edited August 2, 2018 by beetle
coffee_rules
Blame the petitioner for filing the case in the SC, The SC for admitting it. In any case, there will be a party for it and against it. Bigamy for non- muslims is a crime, punishanle by law, so married men are punishable for having consentious sex with unmarried woman where the woman goes scot free. Agreed the law was formulated in conservative times and can be challenged.
beetle
Why is the govt opposing it ? Why can't it just let the court decide like it has now done for section 377?
